MARCit is a new software package that makes cataloguing Internet resources easy and efficient. One begins by using a browser to find a site to be catalogued. Clicking on the floating MARCit icon displays a cataloguing screen on top of the browser. Immediately, much of the site is catalogued automatically, including the fixed and other mandatory fields listed on the sheet attached, as well as the Web site address (URL) and title, which are taken directly from the browser.

To finish cataloguing the site one enters the rest of the cataloguing information (subtitles, publication information, summaries, subjects, etc.) into the other fields available. One then clicks the Save button, which saves the record to a designated file. The file can then be imported to a library automation system database.
