China focusing on air safety

Article Type: University news From: Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology: An International Journal, Volume 80, Issue 4

Air traffic in China is growing faster than anywhere else in the world. Safety is becoming an increasingly important issue. NLR has extensive experience in studying the interaction between pilots and equipment. This is exemplified by the HILAS project, in which NLR is collaborating with the TNO research institute, the Delft University of Technology, and the University of Groningen. HILAS aims to ascertain variations in pilots’ information processing capabilities during flight operations, by measuring blood circulation through the nose and ears.

NLR was invited to address a human factors seminar held at the Civil Aviation University of China in Tajin. This university is a breeding ground for aviation talent.
