Alenia Aeronautica to standardise on Siemens PLM Software's Teamcenter for PLM

Article Type: Aerospace technology From: Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology: An International Journal, Volume 80, Issue 2.

Siemens PLM Software, a division of Siemens Automation and Drives and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, recently announced that Alenia Aeronautica, an Italian aerospace company, following a comprehensive evaluation process, selected Teamcenter software, one of the world's most widely used PLM portfolio, as its PLM platform. Teamcenter replaces Alenia's existing solution and a number of legacy systems. Thus, lowering the company's cost of ownership for PLM software.

Teamcenter will be used by Alenia Aeronautica to unify all new product development and introduction activities into a single source of product and process knowledge, bridging the gap between the product design and manufacturing departments. Instant collaboration, configuration management and integration with manufacturing are the main focus areas of the initial project. Teamcenter will enable Alenia Aeronautica to quickly and easily share product and technology information with hundreds of key employees at multiple locations, allowing the company to standardise new product development practices across the business.

“This new solution will help us to bridge the gap between the engineering and the manufacturing departments, sharing product and technology information within our extensive network of users in Italy and abroad,” said Nazario Cauceglia, Alenia Aeronautica Chief Technology Officer.

“The fact that an Aerospace & Defense industry leader like Alenia Aeronautica selected Teamcenter to displace an existing solution, following an extensive evaluation process, further validates the superiority of Siemens PLM Software's technology and our professionals,” said Paul Vogel, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for Europe, Middle East & Africa, Siemens PLM Software. “Siemens PLM Software has been selected as the preferred provider by numerous leading Aerospace & Defense companies world-wide, and this selection further strengthens our leadership in this industry.”

Teamcenter powers innovation and productivity by connecting people and processes with a single source of product and process knowledge. Teamcenter's comprehensive portfolio of proven digital lifecycle management solutions is built on an open PLM foundation to power end-to-end PLM. The selection of Teamcenter by Alenia Aeronautica reinforces Siemens PLM Software's world leadership in the Aerospace & Defense industry and adds another leading company to its existing customer base.

Siemens PLM Software is used extensively by the top 15 Aerospace & Defense OEM and has accrued more experience in Aerospace & Defense in mission-critical operations than any other comparable PLM product. With 2.3 million licenses and more than one million man-years of experience in delivering mission-critical operations on an unparalleled scale, Siemens PLM Software is now the de facto provider of PLM and facilitator of enterprise transformation for the Aerospace & Defense industry.
