Pilotview electronic flight bag

Pilotview electronic flight bag

CMC Electronics' PilotView Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) has been selected by Sino Swearingen Aircraft Corporation as a standard option on the SJ-30 business jet. The Class 2 EFB can be side mounted on either the pilot or copilot side.

“The PilotView Electronic Flight Bag will provide our customers with the most advanced EFB in corporate aviation,” said Bob Kromer, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, at Sino Swearingen. “With its solid state design and avionics grade hardware, the PilotView EFB will be an excellent supplement to our flight deck.”

Jean-Pierre Mortreux, President and CEO, CMC Electronics, explained: “We are really delighted that Sino Swearingen has chosen our PilotView EFB to provide paperless capability for their SJ-30 business jets. Our EFB solution delivers a dependable, avionics grade system that supports industry leading applications. Many of the features found only in Class 3 EFBs such as “FMS-style” line-select keys, a high-resolution, fully dimmable display, integrated communication capabilities and DO-160D qualification, make the PilotView an ideal system to meet the varied requirements of the discerning business jet operator.”

CMC's PilotView EFB improves productivity by enabling efficient access to up to date aircraft documentation and flight planning information. PilotView provides en- route, approach charts, moving map display and graphical real time weather information. The PilotView is a compact, lightweight system with a display/processor unit featuring a wireless connection. PilotView is easy to install in a variety of cockpits where space is at a premium.

Qualification to RCTA DO-160D and a design with no moving parts guarantee continued operation in all phases of flight. A high-quality 8.4” AMLCD display offers exceptional readability in all cockpit ambient light conditions. In addition to line select keys and a convenient integrated keyboard, the PilotView EFB offers a “film-on-glass” touch-sensitive screen providing pilots with a choice when accessing or navigating through EFB software applications. PilotView allows a pilot to immediately view what is on the other pilot's display through the touch of a single key. A unique feature is a one-touch video key that enables the pilot to toggle between the current application and video images from video surveillance systems.

Sino Swearingen Aircraft Corporation's SJ-30 business jet is a high performance twinjet aircraft with a range of over 2,500 nautical miles and the highest cruise speed in the light jet industry of Mach 0.83 (560mph). This single pilot certified jet operates at altitudes to 49,000ft and maintains a “Sea Level Cabin” of 12psi through 41,000ft. SSAC is positioned to produce a family of cost-efficient, high performance, high-quality business jets. We have also been informed that CMC Electronics has obtained a ISO by the FAA for its new-generation Global Positioning System (GPS)- based CMA-9000 Flight Management System (FMS). The CMA-9000 FMS has been selected by Pilatus for the PC-21 turboprop trainer aircraft and by Thales for their avionics suite on the Sukhoi SuperJet 100.

The CMA-9000 is a family of compact FMS variants that is well suited for modern digital cockpits in fixed and rotary wing aircraft for both civil and military applications. It is the next-generation FMS derived from CMC's successful CMA-900 FMS/ GPS and CMA-3000 helicopter FMS. The single unit CMA-9000 has civil certified multi-sensor (GPS, INS, DME and EGI) navigation capabilities. It conforms to the ARINC-739 multifunction control display unit standard, making it suitable as a display and control unit for other systems such as ACARS, ACMS and Satcom. It also has the capability to act as a radio management unit.
