Ken Kendrick, a member of the UK's Directorate of Reserve Forces and Cadets Staff Officer, has been appointed Chairman of Council of the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE).

Ken, an IIE Fellow and member since 1977, began his engineering career as a trainee civil engineer with Sir William Halcrow & Partners. He then moved into the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a trainee officer at RAF Feltwell before undertaking technical and specialist training at the RAF College Cranwell, where he obtained an HND in mechanical engineering. Further career progression included; engineering management instructor, senior engineering officer and personal staff officer to the chief engineer, prior to his current role in the Directorate of Reserve Forces and Cadets with the Ministry of Defence in Central London.

As well as being an accomplished engineer Ken has also remained a proactive member of the IIE over the past 23 years, having been instrumental in setting up the Institution of Technician Engineers in Mechanical Engineering (one of the founding bodies of IIE). He is currently an IIE representative on the Engineering Council Senate.
