Dunlop Aviation Ice Protection & Composites (DAIPC) reports that it has extended its composite manufacturing plant in Coventry, including the addition of another computer controlled autoclave and new clean room.

Representing an investment of over £250,000, the enhanced facility will meet burgeoning demand for the company's structural composite components for the aerospace industry. DAIPC has accumulated outstanding composites expertise over many years as a leader in electro-thermal ice protection for aircraft. Specialist high performance, fibre reinforced/plastics formulations have been developed which are able to accommodate the intricate, close tolerance compound curves required to meet aircraft manufacturers' aerodynamic requirements.

Able to process components up to 4.5m x 1.7m x 1.2m the new autoclave complements existing autoclaves, including one of a capacity up to 4m x 3m x 2m. Meeting BS 5295 Class J and USA Federal Standard 209E Class 10,000 requirements, the new 150sq.m clean room provides control of relative humidity to 50 per cent (plus/minus 10 per cent) and temperature to 21°C (plus/minus 1°C).
