The DL1520 digital oscilloscope series, manufactured by Yokogawa, has been repriced and reconfigured to include a number of new features (Plate 5).

The new lower price of £1,995 (plus VAT) has been made possible by the economics of high production volumes, and Yokogawa believes that the new instrument is now the most highly specified sub-£2,000 oscilloscope package available.
The DL1520 is a 2-channel instrument with 10 kword of memory per channel and a maximum sampling rate of 200MS/s (megasamples per second). It now comes with a built-in printer as standard.
The instrument's waveform analysis capability has been enhanced to provide fully automated measurements of complex signals, including FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) analysis.
Also reduced in price is the DL1520L long-memory version, which has a massive 1 Mword of memory to give a data-capture capability which is claimed to be up to a thousand times greater than that of conventional digital storage oscilloscopes.
The extra long memory capability makes the instrument particularly suited to the high-definition analysis of critical signals which, when captured, can be examined in great detail using the very comprehensive zoom capabilities.
All instruments in the DL1520 series incorporate floppy disk drives, and all waveforms captured can be converted into TIFF, HPGL, Postscript and BMP formats for inclusion in word-processing reports and ASCII format for use in spreadsheets.
