Kings Cross components given corrosion protection by MGC

Article Type: Industrial news From: Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, Volume 58, Issue 3

The long-working relationship between specialist architectural metalworker Lee Warren Limited and Medway Galvanising has been reinforced over the past 2 years due to high demands being created through the regeneration of the Kings Cross site in London.

Located to the rear of the famous old station, the former Granary building is being redeveloped into residential, retail, leisure and commercial premises by Argent.

Lee Warren’s contract with BAM Construction has involved the company in fabricating bespoke balustrades for staircases, balconies and terraces. In many instances, Lee Warren is both designing and manufacturing the pieces of metalwork before having them treated by Medway Galvanising at its Sittingbourne plant.

The Contracts Manager for Lee Warren Limited, Craig Hooper, comments saying: “Medway Galvanising offers a good level of service, combined with excellent quality”.

“If there are products that require galvanising and polyester powder coating, we would typically use Medway as they offer all the benefits of a one stop shop for two very technical processes. The two companies have a relationship going back over many years and we have been working together on this project since early 2009. Everything is going really well.”

Medway Galvanising has invested heavily in not only making sure its processes meet all relevant UK and European standards on product performance, but also to reduce its own carbon and environmental footprints; in the plant and through all of its operations. As the most effective corrosion protection treatment for ferrous metals, galvanising is in itself an extremely sustainable process which, worldwide, saves millions of tonnes of steel from simply crumbling away.
