Clamp unions upgraded to stainless steel

The increasingly rigorous operating and cleaning environments facing manufacturers today, demands that stainless steel fittings and process components be produced to higher material specifications.

In response to this demand, Axium Process has upgraded its standard design of clamp to 316 stainless steel. This comprehensive range is available from 0.5 up to 12.75 in., with metric alternatives offered. Light-duty and high-pressure options are available in 304 stainless steel with sizes available from 0.5 to 4 and 1 to 6 in., respectively.

Ferrules and blanks are manufactured in 316L as standard with material traceability to BS-EN10204-3-1-B. More exotic alloys are also available to order including Hastelloy C, SMO 254 and 904L. Internal ferrule finishes of 0.8-1.0 μm Ra are supplied as standard, with 0.4 and 0.25 μm Ra and electropolishing options available for particular cosmetic, pharmaceutical and water for injection (WFI) applications.

Axium Process' fabrication services enable clamp fittings to meet client-specific operating conditions. The company's in-house orbital welding facilities are used for high levels of consistency, accuracy and repeatability and provide high integrity welds and full weld logging capabilities.

Clamp unions are designed to be crevice free, quick and easy to assemble as no tools are required and allow operating temperatures and pressures of up to 150°C and 10 bar, respectively. EPDM seals are supplied as standard although a wide range of seal material options is available including silicone, nitrile, Viton, PTFE and encapsulated PTFE. Alternative designs such as mesh and orifice seals are also available.
