New crane complements galvanizing super-bath
The recent installation of two new cranes at Worksop Galvanizing’s facility has increased the company’s capacity and provides customers with the opportunity to take full advantage of what is believed to be Europe’s longest galvanizing bath.
With a combined lifting capacity of 20 tonnes, the two 10 tonne cranes replace a pair of 3.2 tonne capacity cranes and mean that Worksop Galvanizing’s 21 m galvanizing bath can be used to its full potential. As well as allowing far heavier components to be galvanized in the company’s huge bath, the combination of large capacity cranes and a large bath enable customers to have large components galvanized in a single operation eliminating the need for bulky components to be galvanized in individual sections. This will enable customers to manufacture items with fewer parts, which in turn allows for their speedier erection on-site (Plate 2).

Worksop Galvanizing’s commercial manager, Paul Robinson, explained, “The installation of the new cranes has given a significant boost to our operational capacity and reflects our ongoing determination to provide a comprehensive range of galvanizing services for the benefit of customers, irrespective of their specific requirements”.
