Keywords: Galvanizers Association, Health and safety, Training

Safety training courses introduced last year as part of the UK's Galvanizers Association 21 initiative, proved so popular that extra courses were run till the end of last November.

Devised jointly with the UK's safety organisation RoSPA, the video-based training packages were aimed at plant managers and set out to emphasise the importance of, and their responsibility in, the prevention of accidents, together with detailed consideration of the hazards and controls relating to the hot-dip galvanizing process. Relevant legislation is also reviewed. Additionally, the course is designed to equip managers to return to their plants and conduct safety training for their own operators.
