Keywords: Pneumatics, Training, FESTO

Festo Didactic, the training and education arm of the automation company, has introduced a suite of enhanced tools for customers including new hardware and software products, portable hands-on training hardware solutions, a new catalogue and a special UK equipment website aimed expressly at colleges and universities.

New hardware includes three self-contained "TOMcases" from Festo Didactic. These comprise advanced rnechatronic subsystems housed in fully portable toolbox-sized rugged cases. TOMcases are available for different hands-on training applications covering the fundamentals of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, robotics, PLC & Fieldbus technologies and manufacturing & process engineering. The cases can be used independently or together to teach about material and information flow. These unique training tools promote "system thinking" – a skill in significant demand throughout modern industry.

Now accessible to all UK technology schools, colleges and universities, the Didactic GB website (http://www.festo.corn/gb/ teachingtools ) lists the array of training products and resources available to education establishments. The site features three key areas: software, hands-on training hardware, and modular product training systems. It also details case studies of existing Festo Didactic equipment users in universities across the country, with hyperlinks directly to their own web sites. In addition, visitors to the Festo Didactic site can review all the software and Computer Based Training tools available from the company.

From within the new website, visitors can request equipment demonstrations and free literature, including the interactive Didactic CDROM. The new Festo Didactic Short- form Catalogue also details the training solutions now available – contact Festo for your free copy.
