TTS - the new versatile conveyor system

Flexibility and efficiency are the key benefits of the Twin Trolley System - one of the latest additions to Dürr's range of conveyor equipment (Plate 9).

It has already been installed at ten sites overseas - including Fiat's body in white and paint shop facility in Mirafiori, Italy. Audi's underbody sealant line in Ingolstadt, Germany, and the final assembly area at Pininfarina in Italy and Somaca in Morocco.

"And now", says Dürr's Automation and Conveyor Techniques project engineer Andy James, "it is set to meet the needs of many UK manufacturers.

"Individual solutions can be generated using components from the TTS range", Andy explains. "The system can be overhead or floor mounted and is suited to transfer or process transport methods."

Elements available include horizontal and vertical curves, track switches, turntables, cross-transfers and drop sections - so a solution can be designed to suit almost any process, offering the benefits of inverted power and free or conventional power and free with the efficiency and flexibility of a roller bed or skid-based system.

Basic TTS modules consist of sections of aluminium track, each with its own external unit transmitting drive to a pair of trolleys via a continuous toothed steel cord belt. Linked by a load bar, the trolleys have four wheels and two guide rollers and are coupled to the belt by a toothed sliding block.

Andy James added: "Because it is belt-based, the system runs almost silently and lubrication requirements are minimal. If offers users the ability to transfer in both directions and flexible transfer speeds. Also, line reconfigurations can be carried out rapidly and inexpensively.

"We see TTS as a revolutionary system and a very versatile member of the Dürr conveyor products range."
