Automated assembly equipment market forecast to reach $4.5 billion by 2002

Keywords Assembly, Market study, North America

Automated assembly systems and related subsystems are forecast to experience a North American market demand of $4.5 billion by 2002. A new market studypublished by Advanced Technology Advisors (ATA) reports that strong demand will continue for assembly systems, electronic parts placement, assembly robots, parts feeders, modular structural elements and other equipment used in design and construction of such systems (Figure 1).

Strong demand from end user segments such as electronics, medical and consumer products will lead all segments in this industry growing at more than 10 per cent per year. More than 600 firms have been identified that share in the North American automated assembly business. More than 250 of these firms are system integrators which design and build custom assembly systems.

In a recently published, 200-plus page report, Advanced Technology Advisors analyzes the current market situation, profiles major competitors and forecasts the demand for the next five years by both end user industry and product categories. The report tracks seven major product categories of systems and subsystems used in automated assembly.

This independently prepared report is for industry managers responsible for marketing product planning and forecasting in the automated assembly business. The study examines marketing tactics, distribution trends and market entry strategics.
