Abstract

In this research work, the effect of yarn twist and loop length on spirality, geometrical and also physical properties of single jersey fabrics are reported. To carry out this work, five types of yarns are produced with 30s count with five different twist factors of 3.7, 40, 4.2, 4.4, and 4.8. These five types of yarns are knitted separately to make single jersey fabrics with three loop lengths of 2.8, 2.9, and 3.0 mm. All of these samples are scoured, soured and given antichlor treatment. Then among these samples, one half of them are bleached. Then the fabrics are tested to determine the effect of yarn twist and loop length on spirality, geometrical properties, such as courses/inch, wales/inch, stitch density and grams/sq.metre, and physical properties, such as air permeability, bending rigidity, elastic recovery and extension, shear rigidity, wicking and shrinkage. The results of the same are discussed in detail in this research work.
