Significance

Preparations were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the start has been postponed until July 1.

Impacts

South Africa already dominates the sub-region and will likely be a fulcrum of planned new regional, interlinked motor industries.
Major growth plans for new African vehicle sales would also benefit South Africa in terms of provision of expertise and training.
