Prospects for Brazil to end-2019.
Significance
Brazil will enter the second half of 2019 with a stalled economy at best, and possibly in a double-dip recession. Since taking office on January 1, the government of far-right President Jair Bolsonaro has stumbled from one self-inflicted crisis to the next. Its effectiveness has been undermined by a relationship with Congress that has varied between disengagement and outright hostility.
