Clearing the design to manufacture bottleneck
124
Abstract
Discusses the computerised approach to the problems of controlling complex design activities where updates proliferate and the design bottlenecks have been shifted to manufacturing by CAD. Outlines the techniques introduced by one pioneering company – Sherpa – and the benefits it has brought to companies as diverse as defence contractors, the Ford Motor Company, and NCR and Philips in Europe.
