Making a case for better team work

Abstract

In sport, the sides who win are not always the most talented individually. Team spirit counts for much, and of winners it is often said that the whole unit proved to be greater than the sum of its parts. Today, the organization of work around teams is a big issue, one that has been addressed by most medium and large companies. It is generally accepted that teamworking can improve organizational performance and, in environments characterized by unpredictability and uncertainty, that use of teams is a positive force.
