Abstract

Presents the winning product development teams from the 1994 American Product Excellence (APEX) Awards. Describes the secrets of success which includes taking time to understand customer needs and being “right‐to‐market” instead of “first‐to‐market”. An overall award was presented to the team that developed the IBM Thinkpad series of mobile computers.
