Abstract

Traditional approaches to facilities design are set within traditional hierarchical, functionally‐divided organizations. The competitive business environment is causing organizations to review such structures in order to improve flexibility. Modern work organization, through structures such as integrated cells, demands different approaches to facilities design in which supporting services are co‐located with core process value adding product assembly and test operations. Details a particular approach to facilities design in support of integrated cell working.
