Abstract

Chinese began to arrive in Florida at the turn of the 20th century. Currently there are more than fifty thousand Chinese living in Florida. This article provides information resources for scholars and students of Chinese studies, and for people interested in the history of Chinese Americans and Southeast regional studies. It consists of archive papers, books, journal and newspaper articles and Internet resources containing information on Florida and China. The list is arranged by authors’ last names when available.

Abstract

The new academic library in the information age will be a teaching library. Teaching students the information literacy skills of how to identify, locate, access and evaluate information has become a fundamental responsibility for academic librarians. This article examines the framework for library bibliographic instruction, analyzes current information literacy initiatives, and reviews efforts of the Olin Library, Rollins College in promoting active learning and critical thinking skills through partnerships with classroom faculty and professionals of information technology and services.

Abstract

The article discusses aspects of housing merchandising in China: the goal of merchandising, the key to merchandising, the breakthrough to merchandising and a necessary environment for merchandising. Suggestions are made on what principle should be followed in the distribution of housing, and what initial steps should and can be taken before it is possible to exchange housing as a commodity of equal value.

This paper is to offer a starting point for inexperienced users interested in finding information over the Internet on Chinese culture, art, language, literature, history, philosophy and current affairs, etc. It focuses on the World Wide Web resources only, and choices of entry are selective rather than exhaustive.

Abstract

The international Communist movement is experiencing great turbulence. Some Western media state with certainty that Lenin′s dream has come to an end, but Chinese practice has proved the contrary conclusion. High efficiency is characteristic of and intrinsic to Communism. The productivity of labour is the most important thing in the success of a new social system. Socialist business has just begun and will create much higher productivity than capitalism.

Abstract

The economic law of population distribution and migration has been studied chiefly based on the Chinese situation. The distribution and development of productive forces decide the distribution and migration of population, and in turn, the latter influences the former. The population distributions in three different stages of social development, namely agricultural, industrial and information society, are described. A new concept in population economics is introduced, i.e. population economic density, which is different from the concept of population density. The formula of population economic density is P(population)/R(resources). Many kinds of migration are analysed, and it is believed that the main efficient cause of migration is economy.
