Abstract
A distinction was drawn by Burns, the political scientist, between transforming and transactional leadership. The notion of transforming leadership struck a chord with behavioural scientists, but discrepancies and internal inconsistencies in their application of the concept arose. A way of clarifying the situation is to view transforming leadership as the application of meta leadership “visioning” to the macro‐leadership role of pathfinding and culture building. This idea is explored, taking a close look at transforming leadership as propounded by Burns.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to develop a lane detection analysis algorithm by Hough transform and histogram shapes, which can effectively detect the lane markers in various lane road conditions, in driving system for drivers.
Design/methodology/approach
Step 1: receiving image: the developed system is able to acquire images from video files. Step 2: splitting image: the system analyzes the splitting process of video file. Step 3: cropping image: specifying the area of interest using crop tool. Step 4: image enhancement: the system conducts the frame to convert RGB color image into grayscale image. Step 5: converting grayscale image to binary image. Step 6: segmenting and removing objects: using the opening morphological operations. Step 7: defining the analyzed area within the image using the Hough transform. Step 8: computing Houghline transform: the system operates the defined segment to analyze the Houghline transform.
Findings
This paper presents the useful solution for lane detection by analyzing histogram shapes and Hough transform algorithms through digital image processing. The method has tested on video sequences filmed by using a webcam camera to record the road as a video file in a form of avi. The experimental results show the combination of two algorithms to compare the similarities and differences between histogram and Hough transform algorithm for better lane detection results. The performance of the Hough transform is better than the histogram shapes.
Originality/value
This paper proposed two algorithms by comparing the similarities and differences between histogram shapes and Hough transform algorithm. The concept of this paper is to analyze between algorithms, provide a process of lane detection and search for the algorithm that has the better lane detection results.

Abstract
Purpose
Fueled by the rapid growth of internet, steganography has emerged as one of the promising techniques in the communication system to obscure the data. Steganography is defined as the process of concealing the data or message within media files without affecting the perception of the image. Media files, like audio, video, image, etc., are utilized to embed the message. Nowadays, steganography is also used to transmit the medical information or diagnostic reports. The paper aims to discuss these issues.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, the novel wavelet transform-based steganographic method is proposed for secure data communication using OFDM system. The embedding and extraction process in the proposed steganography method exploits the wavelet transform. Initially, the cost matrix is estimated by the following three aspects: pixel intensity, edge transformation and wavelet transform. The cost estimation matrix provides the location of the cover image where the message is to be entrenched. Then, the wavelet transform is utilized to embed the message into the cover image according to the cost value. Subsequently, in the extraction process, the wavelet transform is applied to the embedded image to retrieve the message efficiently. Finally, in order to transfer the secret information over the channel, the newly developed wavelet-based steganographic method is employed for the OFDM system.
Findings
The experimental results are evaluated and performance is analyzed using PSNR and MSE parameters and then compared with existing systems. Thus, the outcome of our wavelet transform steganographic method achieves the PSNR of 71.5 dB which ensures the high imperceptibility of the image. Then, the outcome of the OFDM-based proposed steganographic method attains the higher PSNR of 71.07 dB that proves the confidentiality of the message.
Originality/value
In the authors’ previous work, the embedding and extraction process was done based on the cost estimation matrix. To enhance the security throughout the communication system, the novel wavelet-based embedding and extraction process is applied to the OFDM system in this paper. The idea behind this method is to attain a higher imperceptibility and robustness of the image.

Abstract
Purpose
Drawing on the literature on dynamic capabilities and digital transformation, this paper conceptualises and investigates the relevant antecedents of an essential capability for digital transformation – the digital transforming capability – and its effect on the competitive advantage of firms.
Design/methodology/approach
A framework with individual and organisational microfoundations of the digital transforming capability is proposed based on previous research. The digital transforming capability is conceptualised as a second-order construct. The model is tested using data from a broad spectrum of large US companies. Structural equation modelling (SEM) is applied to test the proposed framework.
Findings
The study identifies three main microfoundations that, when combined, build a digital transforming capability (digital-savvy skills, digital intensity and context for action and interaction); in addition, the study tests the relationship between digital transforming capability and firm performance. The results validate the proposed theoretical framework. In addition to proposing relevant microfoundations of the digital transforming capability, we advance knowledge on the performance effects of those microfoundations.
Originality/value
The paper contributes to advancing the understanding of the digital transformation phenomenon by revealing the role of the primary components underlying the digital transforming capability. Yet the mechanisms by which the micro-level aspects are important for digital transformation and organisational outcomes are only suggested by anecdotal evidence. The paper also contributes to ongoing calls for further investigation to extend the understanding of the microfoundations of dynamic capabilities. Finally, by drawing on archival data, this study also contributes to calls to broaden the toolkit used in dynamic capabilities research.

The purpose of this paper is to compare the accuracy of tracking the amplitude and frequency changes of non‐stationary electric signals.
Design/methodology/approach
Short‐time fourier transform (STFT) and S‐transform algorithms were applied to analyze non‐stationary signals originating from switching of capacitor banks in a power system.
Findings
The S‐transform showed possibilities of sharp localization of the basic component, and allowed improvement of tracking dynamism the transient components in comparison to STFT.
Practical implications
S‐transform is a better tool for the analysis of non‐stationary waveforms in power systems and its properties can be used for diagnostic and power quality applications.
Originality/value
The dynamic tracking of the changes in time and frequency of real‐like signals originating from a power system are investigated in this paper.

Abstract
In this paper, two transform methods, the Fourier transform (FT) and the wavelet transform (WT) methods, are utilized to process moiré fringes for the strain analysis of electronic packaging. With the introduction of fringe carriers, those transform techniques need only one fringe pattern for each deformation state. The strain modulation to the carrier frequency can be subtracted by filtering as the pattern is transformed into spectrum domain by the fast‐FT processing, and the deformation field can thus be restored by the inverse FT transform after spectral shifting. The WT method expands the pattern information involved in the fringe carrier in both spatial domain and spectral domain to analyze the deformation distribution in this combined space. By changing the transform scales in the processing, the wavelet transform offers multi‐resolution analysis for the deformation field with high gradients.

A comparison is made between the fast Fourier transform and the equivalent fast Walsh transform together with the steps required to produce a transform algorithm and computer program. Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to find a semi‐analytic solution to the fractional oscillator equations. In this paper, the authors apply the modified differential transform method to find approximate analytical solutions to fractional oscillators.
Design/methodology/approach
The modified differential transform method is used to obtain the solutions of the systems. This approach rests on the recently developed modification of the differential transform method. Some examples are given to illustrate the ability and reliability of the modified differential transform method for solving fractional oscillators.
Findings
The main conclusion is that the proposed method is a good way for solving such problems. The results are compared with those obtained by the fourth‐order Runge‐Kutta method. It is shown that the results reveal that the modified differential transform method in many instances gives better results.
Originality/value
The paper demostrates that a hybrid method of differential transform method, Laplace transform and Padé approximations provides approximate solutions of the oscillatory systems.

Abstract
Purpose
Watermarking technique is one of the significant methods in which carrier signal hides digital information in the form of watermark to prevent the authenticity of the stakeholders by manipulating different coefficients as watermark in time and frequency domain to sustain trade-off in performance parameters. One challenging component among others is to maintain the robustness, to limit perceptibility with embedding information. Transform domain is more popular to achieve the required results in color image watermarking. Variants of complex Hadamard transform (CHT) have been applied for gray image watermarking, and it has been proved that it has better performance than other orthogonal transforms. This paper is aimed at analyzing the performance of spatio-chromatic complex Hadamard transform (Sp-CHT) that is proposed as an application of color image watermarking in sequency domain (SD).
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, color image watermarking technique is designed and implemented in SD using spatio-chromatic – conjugate symmetric sequency – ordered CHT. The color of a pixel is represented as complex number a*+jb*, where a* and b* are chromatic components of International Commission on Illumination (CIE) La*b* color space. The embedded watermark is almost transparent to human eye although robust against common signal processing attacks.
Findings
Based on the results, bit error rate (BER) and peak signal to noise ratio are measured and discussed in comparison of CIE La*b* and hue, saturation and value color model with spatio-chromatic discrete Fourier transform (Sp-DFT), and results are also analyzed with other discrete orthogonal transforms. It is observed from BER that Sp-CHT has 8%–12% better performance than Sp-DFT. Structural similarity index has been measured at different watermark strength and it is observed that presented transform performs better than other transforms.
Originality/value
This work presents the details and comparative analysis of two orthogonal transforms as color image watermarking application using MATLAB software. A finding from this study demonstrates that the Complex Hadamard transform is the competent candidate that can be replaced with DFT in many signal processing applications.

Abstract
Purpose
“Transforming construction” is a wide-ranging strategic term, under which sit numerous initiatives. It is the latest, in a long line of strategies and reports introduced to with the intention of industry improvement. Arguably, many of these fail to achieve their aim. The barriers preventing the adoption of transforming construction initiatives are therefore limiting the potential benefits of the strategy. The aim of this research is to formally identify and understand how these barriers are framed and how these frames can be changed so that the barriers can be overcome, and the wider strategy benefits realised.
Design/methodology/approach
A literature review is undertaken to identify “transforming construction” initiatives. A total of 15 semi-structured interviews are then undertaken with construction professionals and analysed via narrative analysis to identify and understand perceived barriers to these initiatives. Framing is utilised as a theoretical lens to categorise these barriers and understand how “shifts” in the frames held can be achieved and the barriers overcome.
Findings
Barriers to transforming construction initiatives are identified as wicked problems. This allows a new perspective on such initiatives to be gained. The results also reveal how construction professionals frame such barriers, viewing themselves as bystanders with initiatives and practices “bigger” than themselves and their roles. How these frames can be “shifted” from bystander to active participant is identified. Such a shift can serve as a blueprint for industry professionals so that the initiatives identified can be successfully implemented thereby increasing the success of the transforming construction strategy.
Originality/value
This paper addresses a gap in current research around the perceptions held by construction professionals of the initiatives that sit under the transforming construction strategy. Addressing this gap allows the diagnosis of barriers that have previously served to prevent initiatives gaining traction. The findings contribute to both the existing literature and current industry practice by highlighting how the barriers are framed, and how such frames can be “shifted” to support the realisation of long promised strategy benefits.
