This chapter conceptualizes a framework that can be applied to examine the service experiences of business tourists at luxury hotels. A synthesized literature review results in the identification of three service constructs − surprise, recovery, and sweetness − that constitute the service experiences. In the development of five propositions and in views of emotional appreciation and reciprocity, the chapter posits that emotional value from these three constructs of service experiences can enhance business tourists’ attitude of gratitude and consequently their willingness to pay a price premium. The proposed conceptual framework extends the three service constructs to, and integrates them with, a value–attitude–behavior model.

Archaeological heritage tourism has great potential for development in numerous destinations. However, literature on archaeological heritage tourism is scarce and empirical data are minimal. This paper aims to identify the main themes shared in online reviews by tourists, as well as identify factors known as satisfiers and dissatisfiers based on Herzberg’s two-factor theory among tourists who visited Petra UNESCO heritage site.
The research used content analyses to analyse 1,419 tourist’s online reviews on TripAdvisor. Leximancer software provided computer-assisted qualitative data analysis that pinpoint the dominant themes, after which further qualitative analysis found the main narratives associated with different satisfaction groups.
Successively, seven themes were revealed: entrance, trip, monastery, buildings, animal, carriage and safe. Furthermore, a four-dimensional model was postulated to help understand the components and flow of visitors’ experiences in an archaeological heritage site. In addition, the findings of the study revealed that tourists who scored their experience as 4 (very good) or 5 (excellent) (satisfiers) commonly shared perceptions about architecture, buildings, safe, temples, monasteries, tours, tombs and helpful. Contrarily, reviewers that rated their experience as 1 (terrible) or 2 (poor) (dissatisfiers) shared narratives around concepts such as expensive, animals, carriages, locals and shops.
The results offer valuable understandings of cultural heritage tourists’ overall experiences based on TripAdvisor reviews and facilitate the identification of the dominant themes associated with drivers of tourists’ satisfaction/dissatisfaction.

This study explores the brand management and marketing of Creative Cities of Gastronomy. A framework based on brand experience was constructed to investigate its relationship with tourists' brand attachment and brand identification. Two factors that enable tourists to have a stronger brand experience from the self-concept perspective – self-congruity and self-expansion – were also examined.
The authors adopted a quantitative research design and collected data from participants who had visited Creative Cities of Gastronomy. A total of 515 valid questionnaires were collected online and offline. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used for data analysis and hypothesis testing.
The results showed that brand experience positively affects brand identification and attachment. The brand experience of tourists who considered themselves to be “foodies” was enhanced in the Creative Cities of Gastronomy through self-congruity. The results also confirmed that the relationship between self-congruity and brand experience is mediated by self-expansion.
Studies on the Creative Cities of Gastronomy are limited. The few that have explored these cities are dominated by qualitative approaches. This study applied empirical data to examine the brand experience in Creative Cities of Gastronomy. The authors successfully verified that brand experience is effective for building positive relationships with brand attachment and identification. The study also confirmed that self-congruity and self-expansion are important antecedents of brand experience in Creative Cities of Gastronomy. This study enriches the literature by providing empirical evidence and insights into the marketing and branding of these cities.

The study combines the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and protection motivation theory. Using the PLS-SEM technique, this study examines the relationship between the destination's competitive profits and travel intention of Iranian tourists in the post-Covid-19 pandemic.
The social-support coping (Instrumental) does not incorporate tourists' adaptive behaviors. Vulnerable vaccination significantly affects the extremeness of an individual's problem-focused coping, which affects tourist's adaptive behaviors in crisis time, indicating the effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccination on travel intention.

Intention to re-participate in co-creation (IRCC) is an essential indication of customers to their deal proneness. Therefore, this study aims to focus on the role of trust in the relationship between tourists’ motivation for IRCC activities and the perceived service outputs in the tourism research.
This study applies a quantitative method approach to achieve perceptions into this unfamiliar phenomenon of IRCC. A total of 305 valid questionnaires were collected from October 10 to October 30, 2020 in Istanbul, then analyzed with covariance-based structural equation modeling using the linear structural relations (LISREL) software package.
The findings of the study showed that the tourists’ IRCC is categorized under four factors: learning benefit, social interaction benefit, hedonic benefit and financial benefit. In the context of IRCC, organizational trust partially mediates the relationship between tourist intention and deal proneness motivation for IRRC.
The scope of research was limited to domestic tourists visiting Istanbul. Research must be conducted on tourists visiting other destinations and who differ in terms of cultural features to make assessments on a larger scale. Furthermore, when considering that co-creation is the consequence of the collaboration between the business and the customers, researching businesses’ initiatives based on promoting the participation in co-creation will make a contribution both for the managers and to the literature to formalize the co-creation process. In addition, social networks are one of the main platforms where tourists motivation to participate in co-creation, but tourists can both create and destroy value on social media regarding the businesses and touristic experience. In this respect, future research should analyze tourists’ motivation elements that urge them to co-create and co-destroy value on social networks, contributing to understanding and evaluating the co-creation process in all aspects.
In contrast with prior research, this study offers a model that integrates the antecedents and consequences of the IRCC process. In this perception, insight tourist motivational factors to IRCC activities provides a path for tourism businesses to strategically manage their activities. This study mostly uncovers the role of organizational trust positively in effect the re-participation.
IRCC is an issue that should be evaluated with its antecedents and outputs. In the literature, several studies evaluate co-creation outputs but research on antecedents promoting IRCC is limited. In this study, the antecedents (motivation to re-participate) and outputs of co-creation (trust and perceived benefit) are evaluated together.

本研究的范围仅限于访问伊斯坦布尔的国内游客。未来研究需对到访其他目的地、文化特征不同的游客进行研究, 以进行更大范围的评估。此外, 当考虑到共创是企业与客户合作的结果时, 研究企业在促进共创参与的基础上的举措将有助于管理者和学者将共创过程具体化。此外, 社交网络是游客 MPCC 的主要平台之一, 但游客可以在社交媒体上创造和破坏关于商业和旅游体验的价值。在这方面, 未来的研究应该分析游客在社交网络上共创和共毁价值的动机因素, 有助于从各个方面理解和评估共创过程。

Se aplica una metodología cuantitativa para analizar las percepciones de un nuevo concepto, intención de volver a participar en la co-creación (Intention to Re-participate in Co-Creation, IRCC). Se recogieron un total de 305 cuestionarios válidos, en el período comprendido entre el 10 y 30 de octubre de 2020 en Estambul, y se analizaron con un modelo de ecuaciones estructurales basado en la covarianza (CB-SEM) utilizando el software LISREL.
La intención de volver a participar en la cocreación (IRCC) es un indicador esencial de los clientes para su propensión al trato. Por tanto, la finalidad de este estudio es centrarse en el papel de la confianza en la relación entre la motivación de los turistas para las actividades de IRCC y los resultados percibidos del servicio en la investigación en turismo
Los resultados del estudio mostraron que el IRCC de los turistas se agrupa en cuatro factores: (i) beneficio del aprendizaje, (ii) beneficio de la interacción social, (iii) beneficio hedónico y (iv) beneficio financiero. En el contexto del IRCC, la confianza organizativa media parcialmente en la relación entre la intención del turista y la motivación de propensión al trato para el IRCC.
Limitaciones/implicaciones de la investigación
El alcance de la investigación se limitó a los turistas nacionales que visitan Estambul. Es necesario investigar a los turistas que visitan otros destinos y que difieren en cuanto a sus características culturales para realizar evaluaciones a mayor escala. Además, al considerar que la cocreación es la consecuencia de la colaboración entre la empresa y los clientes, el análisis de las iniciativas de las empresas basadas en la promoción de la participación en la co-creación supondrá una contribución tanto para los gestores como para la literatura para formalizar el proceso de co-creación. Además, las redes sociales son una de las principales plataformas en las que los turistas están motivados para participar en co-creación de valor (MPCC), pero los turistas pueden tanto crear como destruir valor en los medios sociales en relación con las empresas y la experiencia turística. En este sentido, futuras investigaciones, deberían analizar los elementos de motivación de los turistas que les impulsan a co-crear y co-destruir valor en las redes sociales, contribuyendo a la comprensión y evaluación del proceso de co-creación en todos sus aspectos.
A diferencia de las investigaciones anteriores, el estudio ofrece un modelo que integra los antecedentes y las consecuencias del proceso del IRCC. En esta percepción, el conocimiento de los factores de motivación de los turistas hacia las actividades de IRCC proporciona una vía para que las empresas turísticas gestionen estratégicamente sus actividades. Este estudio se centra en el papel de la confianza organizativa en el efecto de la re-participación.
El IRCC es un tema que debe ser evaluado con sus antecedentes y resultados. En la literatura, varios estudios evalúan los resultados de la cocreación, pero la investigación sobre los antecedentes que promueven el IRCC es limitada. En este estudio se evalúan conjuntamente los antecedentes (motivación para volver a participar) y los resultados de la cocreación (confianza y beneficio percibido).

This paper discusses research which has been conducted irregularly over a period of some thirty years on the topic of tourist pressure and how this phenomenon can be portrayed. This is a relatively undeveloped topic which has not received much attention in the tourist literature, and yet it is felt that the concept mad its application hold considerable potential benefit for tourism planning and management. The key issue is to develop a methodology which allows the phenomenon to be adequately described and portrayed in such a manner that the resulting information can be integrated into the appropriate management of tourist numbers.

Previous research has shown that restaurants are an important factor in the choice of a holiday destination for some tourists. Research has also found that the restaurants at a destination can enhance the guests’ overall satisfaction with the destination. This research was sponsored by the Co‐operative Research Centre for Sustainable Tourism in Australia and investigates the relationship between the tourist destination, restaurants and tourists. The study is based on the results of interviews with 459 tourists. The findings of the study provide support for the proposition that tourists perceive restaurants as an important attribute of a tourist destination. The study also provides insight into how tourists select restaurants. This information is useful to managers of restaurants in tourist destinations. Both destination marketers and restaurant managers will benefit from this study.

Observing visitors' behaviour in places presenting heritage and reviewing the tourism literature dealing with ‘heritage’ tourism led to this research that is aimed at clarifying the core of heritage tourism. The common approach that heritage tourism consists of tourists in heritage places, is challenged. The relationship between four groups of variables (the tourists' personal characteristics, the tourists' awareness of the history of the site, the tourists' perception of a site in relation to their own heritage and, the site attributes) and the tourists' visitation patterns (before a visit, during a visit, and after a visit) as the outcome variables was investigated. The actual study was conducted in Israel because of its attributes as a space containing a variety of heritage sites in a relatively small area, which relate to different tourists on different grounds. The research looked in detail at two sites: the Wailing Wall and Massada. The results (specifically the tourists' perception of the sites) indicate that the relationship between the tourists and the heritage site attributes is at the core of the phenomenon of heritage tourism. The understanding of this relationship has value for the study of heritage‐related behaviour including heritage tourism. The study suggests a new approach to understanding heritage tourism which could be applicable for other subgroups of tourism, and could have implications for the management of heritage and historic sites.

Leisure‐based tourism constitutes an important part in China’s domestic tourist market. This article reports the findings of a case study of leisure‐based tourist behavior conducted in Changchun, the capital city of Northeast China’s Jilin Province. The composition and demographic profile of the leisure‐based tourist market are presented. Leisure‐based tourists’ preference with regard to destination choice, leisure facilities used, and accommodation is analyzed. It is concluded that in‐depth understanding of leisure‐based tourist behavior will contribute significantly to the enhancement of tourist city images, modification of urban tourist attraction systems, effective exploitation of urban tourism resources and destination management and marketing.

This study comprises Norwegian and foreign tourists’ expenditures from May to September 1995. The results are based on on‐site surveys in selected Norwegian tourist areas, and the consumption figures are weighted according to the relative size of the nationalities and type of accommodation in order to obtain a representative picture of the consumption per guest night. The foreign tourists' expenditures are also registered in the Norwegian Visitor Survey conducted at border crossings, and the two methods are discussed and compared.
