This paper aims to study the anodization of aluminum in a mixture solution of 1,3-propanediol solutions and 0.4 mol l−1 H3PO4 at a low temperature.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to study the anodization of aluminum in a mixture solution of 1,3-propanediol solutions and 0.4 mol l−1 H3PO4 at a low temperature.

Design/methodology/approach

The morphology and composition of the resulting anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template was characterized by means of a scanning electron microscope in combination with an energy dispersive spectrometer.

Findings

Pore density and pore diameter both were found to be dependent on the temperature of anodization.

Originality/value

The resulting AAO templates exhibited uniform and regular pores with diameters that were significantly smaller than those found in AAO templates anodized at room temperature.

Abstract

Mao Zedong was the representative figure in the Sinicisation of Marxism. At the beginning of the May 4th Movement, he advocated promoting the transformation of society by proceeding from the actualities of China and inheriting critically the legacy of Chinese and Western cultures. After he became a Marxist, he firmly resisted the tendency towards divination of the directives of the Communist International, and the Soviet experience of revolution, and tried hard to integrate the universal principles of Marxism with Chinese culture and Chinese revolutionary practice, thus opening up the way to the revolution in 1949. However, after the founding of the New China he patterned the economic construction on the Soviet model, and stressed criticism of the culture of the bourgeois, but dropped his guard against the pernicious influences of feudal society; so the historical sediment of the feudal culture became thicker and thicker under cover of Marxism, and finally there occurred the historical tragedy of the “Great Leap Forward” and the “Great Cultural Revolution”. The Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party repudiated the theoretical basis of the “Great Cultural Revolution” and brought in a new phase of political restructuring and cultural openness. The author holds that the evolution of Mao Zedong′s concept of Chinese and Western cultures should be studied and summarised, so that lessons may be drawn from it for the building of a socialist spiritual civilisation.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to model the choice parameters for selection of third party logistics service providers in global lead logistics provider (LLP) environments.

Design/methodology/approach

Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) modeling has been carried out after questionnaire‐based survey, results of which were moderated with inputs from experts from industry and academics.

Findings

The findings of this study revealed the under lying sub‐parameters which come into play while rating/choosing or evaluating service providers in the global LLP situations of today.

Research limitations/implications

The number of service providers, selection criteria and the number of members of the AHP assessment team have been identified as some of the limitations of the present work.

Practical implications

The study has significant practical implications for the service providers and for the organizations which have to choose them. The fourth party logistics scenario entails this choice to be made by the LLP.

Originality/value

This paper deals with inputs from the Indian LLPs and the Indian service providers. With India emerging as the second most important outsourcing destination after China, the assessment of parameters specific to this country while modeling is of practical importance to LLPs beyond the political boundaries of India also.
