Abstract
Purpose
The aim of writing this paper is to demonstrate how societal sector institutions influence the lender‐borrower network relationships.
Design/methodology/approach
The objectives are achieved by analyzing data based on an “Institutional Network” theoretical frame of references. The methodological approach used in the research is of a qualitative nature.
Findings
The research result shows that the societal sector institutions, like country culture, religion, political system, legal system, government, and family/clan, have direct and indirect impact on the lender‐borrower network relationship, especially in the case of financing rural‐based small and cottage industries by interest‐free banks.
Originality/value
The ideas of an interest‐free banking system and its financing towards rural‐based small and cottage industries. The research is useful both to financing organizations based on interest free principles and also to small and cottage industry owners in developing as well as developed nations, where this specific financing system is working.

To explain the requirements of Regulation Systems Compliance and Integrity (“Regulation SCI”) and the new responsibilities of organizations defined as “SCI entities.”
Design/methodology/approach
Explains the purpose of Regulation SCI, the responsibilities of SCI entities, systems covered by the rules (“SCI systems”), and specific obligations of SCI entities, including the establishment and periodic review of policies and procedures, compliance with the Exchange Act, designation of “responsible SCI personnel,” appropriate corrective action in response to “SCI events,” notification of systems changes, annual “SCI reviews,” business continuity and disaster recovery testing, and recordkeeping and filing. Discusses future implications for SCI Entities and other market participants.
Findings
Regulation SCI launches a broad and extensive overlay of rules and guidance to address systems capacity and integrity issues that have increasingly affected the securities markets. The adoption of this regulation suggests that there will continue to be increased scrutiny by the SEC, FINRA and other regulators of the automated systems and related policies and procedures of all market participants.
Practical implications
SCI entities will need to devote considerable attention and resources not just to prevent incidents where possible, but also to establish systems for ensuring thorough compliance and well-documented and reasonable follow-up actions where necessary. All market professionals – including broker-dealers, investment advisers, pension funds and investment companies – should study the new regulation and consider adopting appropriate policies and procedures to address operating as well as cyber security issues with respect to their own critical operating technology.

Points out that the small and cottage industry (SCI) sector is often neglected despite its potential for contributing to economic development, especially in the third world; and reports an investigation of the use of the Bai‐Muajjal (BM) method of financing in the Bangladesh SCI sector. Explains the theoretical basis and methodology of the study, the possible sources of funds for SCI owners, the particular characteristics of Islamic banks and the fund investment methods they offer. Describes the BM lending activities of one such bank with 40 “grass root level” SCIs (poultry farming and handloom industry), which require borrowers to create groups, undergo monitoring and open savings accounts; and assesses their effects on SCI owners’ saving habits and the mobilization of savings towards productive ends. Identifies many social and economic advantages in the BM system and welcomes it as a way to channel savings productively and reduce poverty.

Abstract
Purpose
Supply chain integration (SCI) dominates supply chain strategy and is receiving increasing academic attention. The purpose of this paper is to provide a systematic review of the knowledge trajectory and structure of the SCI field.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on 3,533 papers extracted from the Web of Science (WoS), this paper adopts the main path analysis (MPA) method to detect three distinct knowledge development trajectories. Coupling-based clustering is combined with MPA to reveal three critical subfields.
Findings
The findings show that the definition, content and dimensions of SCI lack unified conclusions. The influencing factors and performance consequences of SCI are long-standing research elements. Building theoretical models and integrated systems and applying blockchain technology to improve SCI are the key research contents. The intertwining of collaboration and SCI cannot be ignored, and the green SCI may be a hot topic in the future.
Research limitations/implications
This study explores knowledge in the SCI field based on the limited literature collected by WoS rather than all published papers. The omissions of some relevant papers and books may exist.
Practical implications
The study methodology provides a framework for similar studies in the future, and the results help researchers to get a comprehensive picture of the knowledge trajectory and structure of the SCI field.
Originality/value
Compared to existing reviews, MPA combines cluster analysis to develop a synthetic framework of the knowledge trajectory and structure in the SCI domain. It contributes to a systematic review of the development of SCI.

To analyze SEC Staff’s announced 2018 OCIE Examination priorities to provide insight to investment advisers and other regulated entities regarding areas of focus during SEC examinations.
Design/methodology/approach
This article discusses the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (OCIE) published its examination priorities for 2018 (the “2018 Priorities Report”).
Findings
Given that OCIE’s examination priorities for 2017 were published before the beginning of the Trump administration, differences between the 2017 and the 2018 priorities provide important insights into the focus of examinations under SEC Chair Clayton. Investment advisers and other regulated entities should allocate resources towards their preparedness for the areas of focus identified in the 2018 Priorities Report.
Originality/value
This article contains valuable insight regarding the SEC’s 2018 OCIE examination priorities and practical guidance from industry experts.

Purpose
This research, based on the idea of contingency fit, attempts to construct a strategic selection system to select the best fit competency of channel strategic selection by using neuro‐fuzzy technique.
Design/methodology/approach
Neuro‐fuzzy technique is used.
Findings
In addition to, providing a concrete bilateral solution to select the right and better fit competency of channel strategy and giving an alternative way to explain fit, this strategic selection system can also be used as a competency diagnosis system for channel members in the supply chain organization, providing clues for further channel performance promotion and channel modernization.
Originality/value
Through the literature and construction of strategy channel satisfaction model (SCSM) concepts and ideas, an empirical study of the Asian Commerce Community meet distribution channel relationships will pose an Asian developed channel modernization perspective of SCSM to discuss the critical marketing strategy selection for the traditional orient “commercial channel”.

Abstract
Purpose
The current industrial revolution is powered by data, which is also referred as Industry 4.0. The Industry 4.0 has attracted significant attention from academia and the industry professionals. The supply chain integration (SCI) has played a significant role in enhancing supply chain performance and organizational performance. This study explores the relationship between Industry 4.0 and SCI via an extensive literature review to understand the various levels of integration with the supply chain processes and to identify missing links, through a framework, and suggest further research directions.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, we have used systematic literature review approach to identify the building blocks of the conceptual framework, which is the main contribution of the present study. We have used Scopus database to search literature using keywords.
Findings
The study offers some interesting insights that may help scholars to advance theoretical debates. Moreover, the study also provides interesting direction to the practitioners engaged in supply chain management in data-driven environment. In this study, we have proposed a conceptual framework for the adoption of Industry 4.0 and SCI.
Research limitations/implications
In this study we have proposed a conceptual framework. However, the framework is yet to be empirically tested. Hence, we caution readers to evaluate the findings of the present study in context to its limitations. This is an attempt to develop a conceptual framework which may be tested using longitudinal data.
Originality/value
The present work helps in integrating two independent subjects', i.e. Industry 4.0 and SCI. The theoretical framework presented here integrates Industry 4.0 and SCI which can be useful to the practitioners and policymakers engaged in implementing Industry 4.0.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of ethics and technology towards safety of internet of things (IoT)-enabled system in smart cities of India (SCI).
Design/methodology/approach
The determinants that would impact on securing IoT-enabled system in SCI have been identified by the studies of literature. Some hypothesis has been formulated. A conceptual model has been developed. Hypotheses and conceptual models have been tested by a statistical approach through survey works considering the feedbacks of 331 usable respondents. The results have been discussed followed by explaining the implications of this study. A comprehensive conclusion has been provided at the end.
Findings
The validated results show that the trust factor has insignificant impacts on the system and technology use, as well as on the behavioural intention. The model provided could achieve 79% explanative power.
Practical implications
For ensuring safety and security of IoT-enabled devices in SCI, the ethical sense of the stakeholders of SCI has considerable impact on securing safety of IoT-enabled devices in SCI. The practitioner should, as such, be sincere to motivate the stakeholders to ameliorate the ethical sense of the stakeholders for securing safety of IoT-enabled devices in SCI.
Originality/value
A few studies in the areas of Indian smart cities, IoT and related ethical issues have been conducted. In that sense, this approach is deemed to be a novel attempt.
