Abstract

Hybrid manufacturers are uncertain as to whether laser‐drilled holes on 96% alumina are suitable for mixed‐bonded thick film conductor metallisation, or whether they require further treatment before metallisation if reliable circuitry is to be produced. Moreover, although the metallisation of holes on ceramic through the use of screen printed thick films is fairly common in the hybrid industry, this paper shows that published information on this topic is scant, at times contradictory, and, because of proprietary constraints, generally of little use. The authors report on an extensive study in which both as‐laser‐drilled holes and thermally‐treated laser‐drilled holes are metallised using a mixed bonded Pd‐Ag conductor paste. Both encapsulated and non‐encapsulated metallised holes are then subjected to various accelerated life tests, followed by ‘power‐up’ tests to the extreme of circuit destruction. An account is also given of a printing set‐up which allows volume production of printed through‐holes without the need for special skill or attention on the part of the printing operator.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to integrate wayfinding strategies and open innovation to examine the factors of mobile application (M-App) design.

Design/methodology/approach

The study formulated an M-App model from the wayfinding sense-making and open innovation perspective. Samples were collected from the M-Apps users of Airbnb.com in a survey based on the principle of snowball sampling, and 416 samples were returned in total. The hypothesis testing of the model was conducted using structural equation modeling with Linear Structural Relations.

Findings

The operators of the lodging industry should design the recommended route on the M-Apps for tourists to reach the accommodation on the map function conveniently.

Practical implications

The orientation of wayfinding sense-making integrates the accommodation host to mark the direction of the accommodation on the map function of M-Apps to indicate the direction of the location.

Social implications

The operators of the lodging industry should design the recommended route on the M-Apps for tourists to conveniently reach the accommodation on the map function.

Originality/value

For the M-Apps designer of the lodging industry, devising the function with an arrow point on the map would enable tourists to check their current location handily. Moreover, the M-Apps of lodging businesses can reduce marketing expenses from the high recommendations of tourists.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to compare the stability of the three nanocarriers created by DNA origami method with different positions and numbers of crossovers

Design/methodology/approach

Nanocarriers are attractive components among a variety of nanostructures created by DNA origami and can have numerous applications in mechanical and medical engineering. For this reason, the current study compares three nanotubes with different positions and numbers of crossovers created by DNA origami method that can be utilized as nanocarriers. To investigate the structures, the DNA nanocarriers are studied at the human body temperature 310 K. Molecular dynamics simulations are used for this study. For a quantitative analysis of DNA nanocarriers, the areas of three hexagons at three different sites in each of the nanotubes are investigated. The results indicate that the number and position of crossovers are among the significant factors in the structure stability of nanocarriers. The analyses also revealed that although adding crossovers in locations with fewer crossovers increase structural stability, the position of crossovers can have different effects on the stability. DNA origami-based nanocarriers can be implemented in drug delivery, allow the nanocargoes to pass various surfaces and act as filters for passing cargoes of different dimensions and chemical structures.

Findings

The results indicate that the number and position of crossovers are among the significant factors in the structure stability of nanocarriers

Originality/value

In this paper, the stability of DNA origami nanocarriers with different positions and numbers of crossovers was investigated.
