Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to introduce a novel research area involved in fast compute‐online and electronic design automation (EDA) realization, so‐called COMPOL project or COMPOL software tool online (www.compute‐online.com) that is applied to designs of radio frequency integrated circuits/monolithic microwave integrated circuits (RFIC/MMIC) passive components.

Design/methodology/approach

This research work will present an interactive software package that has been fitted and verified by the results based on full‐wave full domain Lagrange differential (FDLD) method and experimental approach to realize EDA of RFIC RFIC/MMIC passive components. The developed web platform is based on browser/server pattern, by use of VisualStudio.NET and ASP.NET technologies.

Findings

Its functionality may include analysis, synthesis, optimization, interpolation, and modeling of spiral inductors and coplanar waveguide (CPW) with any shape on any material substrate for microwave and wireless applications. Through the complete online processing of the inductors and CPW designs, it is approvable to expand to design applications of other passive components such as resistor (R), capacitor (C), transmission line and connector, etc.

Originality/value

This compute‐online algorithm is first developed by the use of the originally established numerical method – FDLD makes one case design possible to be done online in the time range of seconds.

Abstract

The introduction of the 22 member countries of the 4+10+2+6 model of the Asian economy is the immediate task. Japan, Korea, China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar constitute the now-famous 4+10 model. Following the principle of inclusion, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka, as they belong to the regional map of the continent of Asia, are the eight remaining member countries (see Chapter 1). An overview of Asia's 22 member continental economy the AE-22, with its 3.6 billion people (2006) who have made the region of Asia their home in a land area of 20.5 million km2 should be welcome. To put these figures in perspective, the AE-22 comprises only 13.7 percent of the world's land area, but is home to over half the world's population. Tables 2.1–2.4, presented below, illustrate the various figures relating to population, land area, GDP, and GDP per capita of the member nations of the AE-22.

Abstract

Brunner and Taoka did the first survey of American businesspeople's perceptions of marketing and negotiating in the People's Republic of China in 1975. Because of China's open door policy and her determination to modernise, there have been many changes in US‐China business. Therefore, it is important to conduct an updated survey to furnish another reference point for American businesspeople who want to engage in China business. It was found that the most important observations made in the previous study were still true after ten years. However, there are several obvious changes. For example, PRC trade officials are no longer reluctant to reveal their positions or titles and there are problems of technical incompetence, language barriers, and foreign exchange shortage. There are clear management implications of these findings in mapping out appropriate contemporary marketing and negotiating strategies.

Abstract

Outlines the history of accounting in China and reviews the literature published in English on the full range of Chinese accounting issues. Summarizes the contents of three books, refers to sections in other books and analyses journal articles by period, journal, research topic and research method. Argues that this accounting research has historical, academic and practical value, believes it will continue to improve and calls for greater use of more rigid research methodologies in this area.

Abstract

Purpose

The brake connector of an automobile is one important part in the brake system. How to measure the matching surface quality is a problem, because the matching surface is a cone surface and has a deep aperture structure.

Design/methodology/approach

A new measurement system is presented which could assure illumination and image with a special beam splitter. The worker could observe the matching surface by better image.

Findings

More objective evaluation is given with image processing method.

Research limitations/implications

Now, this measurement system is used by Toyota (Tianjin) company and satisfied result is obtained.

Originality/value

This paper is an original work and focuses on an important issue in automobile production.

Abstract

Purpose

Explores, from an insider’s perspective, human resource’s (HR’s) critical role in establishing spirituality practice at the Guangxi Institute of Public Administration, for enhancing academics and administrative staff’ intrinsic satisfaction.

Design/methodology/approach

Describes the various forms of spiritual human resource management (HRM) practice that the Guangxi Institute of Public Administration applied in the workplace.

Findings

Reports that various forms of spiritual HRM practice could improve the organizational productivity through employees’ engagement; for example, increased use of initiative, helping each other, making constructive suggestions for team work, reducing individuals level of workload and conflict resolution.

Practical Implications

Explains that HR managers could develop a highly committed and productive workplace through designing various forms of spiritual HRM practice, including connecting employees with nature by building natural featured campus and bringing in plants at workplace, encouraging employees to take exercise and/or breaks to develop their physical and spiritual wellness, celebrating important milestones and achievements, organizing informal teams to get to know each other better (hobbies, likes and dislikes), decorating office with employee-made art, acknowledging employees’ creative expression and promoting feelings of egalitarianism.

Originality/value

Offers interesting details of spiritual HRM practice, from an insider’s perspective, in a Chinese context.
