Abstract

The economic crisis has its roots in the financial services industry, but it certainly impacted the higher education in a way that has far-reaching implications for the colleges and universities in the United States. With unemployment rates of 8% and above, it made it difficult for families to send their kids to colleges and as a result colleges faced decline in enrollments and pressure to cut costs. Discount rates at almost all universities with an average size of 8,000 or less went up significantly. Academic departments at various universities came under pressure to get leaner and perform better with fewer resources. In this study, we benchmark the financial performance of public universities and private universities against each other as well as against themselves over the years by using data envelopment analysis model. The study also compares universities, public and private, with less than 3,000 students and more than 3,000 students against each other as well as over a period of time. The study is important as it will help university policy makers identify their strengths and weaknesses so that they can capitalize on their strong academic programs and make changes to fix weaker academic programs.

Abstract

This study aims to discover and carefully review the academic works pertinent to the concepts and elements of how human resources (HRs) can be managed through digital marketing and its benefits and model of implementation.

The HR industry has seen digital transition businesses align their HR practices with cutting-edge technologies. Despite this, there are still numerous areas where conventional HR assessments must be improved. Therefore, it is important to discover why digital marketing is necessary for conducting HR practices.

The literature search found numerous published papers demonstrating the applicability of managing HRs through digital marketing. The review provided a comprehensive yet condensed overview of the philosophy behind adopting online platforms for HRs operations. The terms ‘Human Resources in Digital Marketing’ and ‘Recruiting using Digital Marketing’ were used to locate many original, peer-reviewed papers. The evidence suggests that the research was sufficiently reliable and valid.

It is recommended to use digital marketing tools and techniques to facilitate the hiring process and improve the management of HR professionals.

Abstract

The deal on civil nuclear cooperation between India and the United States had an immense global implication on account of its centrality to the contemporary concerns on nuclear proliferation. Much of the debate centered around four critical arguments: first, by amending US nonproliferation laws for India as an exception outside the Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) framework, the deal would weaken the fundamental goal of US nonproliferation policy – to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons beyond the five recognized nuclear weapon states (NWS) under the NPT. Second, why should other states stay in the treaty regime if a nonmember gets the benefits without much of responsibilities? Third, the problems of nuclear proliferation would multiply in the face of current challenges posed by North Korea and Iran. Lastly, the nonproliferation lobbyists were apprehensive that the US–India cooperation could prompt other suppliers, like China, to validate their nuclear cooperation with Pakistan. In view of these arguments it is important to assess whether these arguments are merely debating points or exaggerated concerns or do they hold any strong basis for contention.
