Strategic marketing has established itself as a separate body of marketing knowledge and forced marketing strategists to think more deeply about establishing long‐term working relationships that are external to the organization. Relationship marketing has evolved and is playing an integral part in the formation of partnership arrangements in an era characterized by networks and technology utilization. The Internet represents an emerging vehicle for business transactions and is set to provide unique opportunities. Developing a mindset which takes into account the importance of strategic marketing, the necessity for relationship marketing and the interactivity offered by technology, are of interest to marketers who are employed within a strategic capacity. In view of this, senior marketing personnel need to pay attention to the areas of corporate intelligence and transformational marketing, if, that is, the organization is to develop a sustainable competitive advantage in a fast moving, complex and increasingly unpredictable world. It also means that senior management need to think in terms of establishing a number of distinct groups within the organization.

Although it is possible to prevent and contain both man made and natural disasters, it has to be said that the increase in the world's population is likely to increase further the frequency of a major disaster occurring. Disaster management and planning needs to be placed in a holistic setting, and new initiatives found in order to ensure that a disaster is viewed as a shared responsibility. One area that needs further attention is the concept of community policing and what community policing incorporates. Often, a disaster is on such a scale that local community leaders need to be consulted during the disaster limitation and containment stage. It is essential, therefore, that experts from overseas countries brought into the disaster arena, are able to communicate fully and openly with community leaders in order to gain the support of the community.

Aim of the present monograph is the economic analysis of the role of MNEs regarding globalisation and digital economy and in parallel there is a reference and examination of some legal aspects concerning MNEs, cyberspace and e‐commerce as the means of expression of the digital economy. The whole effort of the author is focused on the examination of various aspects of MNEs and their impact upon globalisation and vice versa and how and if we are moving towards a global digital economy.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the cross‐coupled responses of a coupled rotor‐fuselage flight dynamic simulation model, including a finite‐state inflow aerodynamics and a coupled flap‐lag and torsion flexible blade structure.

The methodology is laid out based on model development for an articulated main rotor, using the theories of aeroelastisity, finite element and finite‐state inflow formulation. The finite‐state inflow formulation is based on a 3D unsteady Euler‐based concepts presented in the time domain. The most advantages of the model are the capability of modeling dynamic wake effects, tip losses and skewed wake aerodynamics. This is, in fact, a special type of the inflow model relating inflow states, to circulatory blade loadings through a set of first‐order differential equations. A non‐iterative solution of the differential equations has practically altered the model into a simple and direct formulation appending properly to the rest of the helicopter mathematical model. A non‐linear distribution of the induced velocity over the rotor disc is finally obtained by the use of both Legendre polynomials and higher‐harmonic functions. Ultimately, validations of the theoretical results show that the on‐axis response, direct reaction to the pilot input, has a good accuracy both quantitatively and qualitatively against flight test data, and the off‐axis response, cross‐coupled or indirect reaction to the pilot input are improved by this approach of modeling.

Improvements in dynamic prediction of both trim control settings and dynamic cross‐coupled responses of helicopter to pilot inputs are observed.

Further work is required for investigation of the augmented finite state inflow model, including the wake rotation correction factors to describe helicopter maneuvering flight characteristics.

The results of this work support the future researches on design and development of advanced flight control system, incorporating a high bandwidth with low‐phase delay to control inputs and also high levels of dynamic stability within minimal controls cross coupling.

This paper provides detailed characteristics on the mathematical integration problems associated with the advanced helicopter flight dynamics research.

ISHM (UK) presented a technical meeting on this topic on the 23rd October 1982 at the Cunard International Hotel, London. The meeting was attended by some 50 engineers, both those involved in the field of hybrids and potential users. It was generally felt that this was a useful meeting but more especially that it would have appealed to many potential users of hybrids, had the right people been able to be contacted.

The discrete Fourier transform (dft) of a fractional process is studied. An exact representation of the dft is given in terms of the component data, leading to the frequency domain form of the model for a fractional process. This representation is particularly useful in analyzing the asymptotic behavior of the dft and periodogram in the nonstationary case when the memory parameter d≥12. Various asymptotic approximations are established including some new hypergeometric function representations that are of independent interest. It is shown that smoothed periodogram spectral estimates remain consistent for frequencies away from the origin in the nonstationary case provided the memory parameter d < 1. When d = 1, the spectral estimates are inconsistent and converge weakly to random variates. Applications of the theory to log periodogram regression and local Whittle estimation of the memory parameter are discussed and some modified versions of these procedures are suggested for nonstationary cases.

Purpose – This chapter gives an overview of meta-analytic methods and illustrates the use of these methods for synthesising research findings. The advantages of performing a meta-analysis are described. Pitfalls in meta-analyses are also discussed. The chapter is intended to present the main elements of a meta-analysis and guide readers to literature presenting meta-analytic methods in greater detail.

Methodology – Key references in the meta-analysis literature are quoted and examples of meta-analyses are presented.

Findings – A meta-analysis is a useful tool for summarising knowledge in fields where a large number of studies have been reported. In addition to providing summary estimates of results, a meta-analysis can be applied to identify factors that produce systematic variation in study findings.

Research implications – Methods of meta-analyses keep developing to deal with complex data structures, thus extending the type of research findings that are amenable to meta-analyses.

Practical implications – Performing a meta-analysis saves labour by eliminating the need to read and digest a large number of studies in order to get an overview of the current state-of-knowledge in a field. Moreover, a meta-analysis establishes a system for easily and quickly updating knowledge as new studies become available.

A distinction must be drawn between a dismissal on the one hand, and on the other a repudiation of a contract of employment as a result of a breach of a fundamental term of that contract. When such a repudiation has been accepted by the innocent party then a termination of employment takes place. Such termination does not constitute dismissal (see London v. James Laidlaw & Sons Ltd (1974) IRLR 136 and Gannon v. J. C. Firth (1976) IRLR 415 EAT).
