Abstract

The 16th ELAG (European Library Automation Group) meeting took place in Ravenna, 1–3 April 1992. As usual the seminar comprised papers on a specific theme, round table discussions of developments in various countries and workshops on particular topics. The seminar, namely ILL in networks attracted about 90 colleagues from 21 European countries. Compared to previous meetings 50% more colleagues attended and 30% more countries were represented. The host country, Italy, sent the most extensive delegation, namely 15 persons, and Norway was represented by 11 members. It was a pleasure to welcome colleagues from Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia. The Spanish delegation was remarkably strong with six representatives.

Abstract

The 17th ELAG (European Library Automation Group) Library Systems Seminar took place at Graz, Austria from 14 to 16 April 1993. The theme ‘The Virtual Library’ attracted 110 members from more than 20 European countries. Compared with last year 20 per cent more delegates attended, compared with two years ago the growth was 80 per cent. Most of the members, especially the newcomers, were pleased with the amount of information on practical experience and accurate knowledge exchanged during the meeting. The sudden expansion did not at all harm the enthusiasm and activity of the members. The novices quickly adapted to the particularities of ELAG's organisation.

Abstract

The 19th ELAG (European Library Automation Group) Library Systems Seminar: ‘Organising the electronic library’, took place at Trondheim, Norway on June 14–16, 1995. The meeting was remarkable in different ways: the great number of attendants, the feeling ‘at home’ of the colleagues from Central and Eastern Europe, the high quality of the programme, the optimal technical infrastructure and support, and last but not least the nice and positive overall ambience during the whole meeting.

Abstract

The 18th ELAG (European Library Automation Group) meeting ‘Library services in an electronic environment’ was held in Budapest from 27 to 29 April 1994. ELAG was the guest of the prestigious Hungarian National Széchényi Library. One hundred and thirty European library automation specialists attended the seminar, among them about a quarter from Eastern Europe. The success was guaranteed by the programme, the continued enthusiasm of all members, and the smooth integration of the newcomers. Now, in its 15th year of existence, ELAG (European Library Automation Group) became European in the real sense of the word. Indeed nearly all European countries were represented. The ELAG members noted this achievement as a very important milestone.
