Abstract

Purpose

Melting universality, quantification and relative computability into a meta‐synthesis, pansystems theory develops an investigation on W‐fuzziness and 0*‐fuzziness connected with generalized conceptions such as derivative, equation, variational principle and OR. The purpose of this paper is to unify various mathematical structures, fuzziness categories, definitions of systems are unified within a general framework.

Design/methodology/approach

The paper includes topics: pansystems approach to fuzzy systems and relations, pansystems variational principle and Zadeh's extension principle, pansystems clustering and its fuzzy embodiment, pansystems topology and approximation to fuzziness, relative unification of fuzziness and roughness.

Findings

Zadeh extension principle about fuzziness transmission can be considered as a specific model of pansystems extremum principle, and so the more modes can be developed. Based on them a further investigation is present on pansystems clustering, which is a W‐fuzzy clustering, an extension or sublation of traditional one and fuzzy one.

Originality/value

Pansystems clustering embodies mutuality of many logoi of different subbraches with classification‐styled OR, including related interpromotions of the principles among knowledge rediscovery, data mining, mathematical reasoning and the investigations of fuzzy systems. W‐fuzziness and 0*‐fuzziness realize a relative unification for many logoi and principles.

The research presents a new outlook to mathematics, physics, traffic, communication, logistics, KD, internet, computer, translation, simulation, information, life‐systems, logic or reasoning, memory or storage, process, transaction, finance, education, inherent, topology, evolution, etc. and then certain mechanism among them and related mutuality can be unveiled.

Design/methodology/approach

A flexible combination of philosophy, mathematics and technology is embodied. The paper is an application of pansystems methodology to approach the following topics: pansystems resource, circulation: traffics, logistics and KD; pansystems variational principle and pan‐circulation; pansystems logistics; pansystems network, supply chain and bullwhip effect; pansystems innovation and knowledge rediscovery.

Findings

All of the topics concerned are reduced to the actualization of pansystems variational OR and classification‐repetition‐PanOR, which possess a transfield nature.

Originality/value

This paper provides the framework and concretion principles of pansystems research on traffics, logistics, supply chain, bullwhip effect, innovation and related applications, and presents a new world outlook, which leads to some new comprehension to KD and WHF* <world*history*future*>, SEM* <society* economy*management*>.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to establish the framework of pansystems variation theory (PVT) and discuss its principles, models, methods, and related applications to computer science.

Design/methodology/approach

The PVT has been established based on the traditional variation theory from the viewpoint of pansystems theory. The theoretical foundation of PVT is pansystems variational principle. It is an interpretation or a specialized expression of relative objective regularity in the variation of things. The application layer of PVT is pansystems variational operations research (PVOR).

Findings

The applications of PVT for computer science can be summarized as actualizations of PVOR: V−d(xy)=*0*/PRR′P′/0**.

Originality/value

Some new ideas of PVT can illuminate the researches of computer science.

Abstract

A basic pansystems scientific view about the physical world is presented. The principle and methodology of pansystems GuanKong technology are introduced. Simple metrics for the quantization of information, risk and gain by comparison (GBC) are established and discussed, and the practical and simple membership function which realizes the transformation from qualitative to quantitative order are given, and an example showing the pansystems GuanKong in detail is also given.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the order relation of existing in computer science, define and analyze macroscopical‐order and semi‐partial order in pansystems theory, and explored the relationship between macroscopical‐order and semi‐partial order. It is an attempt to analyze problems in computer science by using pansystem's philosophy with mathematics and technology (PMT)‐combination.

Design/methodology/approach

Sorting is an important operation in computer science. The main task of the sorting operation is to rearrange the random serial of records into an ordered serial of records according to some keywords. The authors know that there are many sorting methods in computer science. The authors discussed the essence of semi‐partial order and macroscopical‐order and the transformation between semi‐partial order and macroscopical‐order from the point of panscale's view; the essence of this transformation is revealed. By combining the PMT (PMT‐combination), it is easy for the authors to get a deep understanding of the technology in computer science.

Findings

The need for application of the order relation, the authors explored the relationship between macroscopical‐order and semi‐partial order. Combined with PanScale, the authors analyzed the essence of the transformation between macroscopical‐order and semi‐partial order. And applied it to the computer science.

Research limitations/implications

The order relation is an important problem in computer science, as well as existing in our daily life, at the same time this problem has a scale concept in it, the authors need to further research and study.

Practical implications

A very useful method for research of the order relation in computer science.

Originality/value

To explore the relationship between macroscopical‐order and semi‐partial order. Combined with PanScale, the authors analyzed the essence of the transformation between macroscopical‐order and semi‐partial order. And applied macroscopical‐order and semi‐partial order to the computer science.
