Abstract

Purpose

In this study, the authors introduce a solvability of special type of Langevin differential equations (LDEs) in virtue of geometric function theory. The analytic solutions of the LDEs are considered by utilizing the Caratheodory functions joining the subordination concept. A class of Caratheodory functions involving special functions gives the upper bound solution.

Design/methodology/approach

The methodology is based on the geometric function theory.

Findings

The authors present a new analytic function for a class of complex LDEs.

Originality/value

The authors introduced a new class of complex differential equation, presented a new technique to indicate the analytic solution and used some special functions.

Abstract

Purpose

The aim in this paper is to investigate the dynamics of difference equation yn+1=(pyn+ynk)/(qyn+ynk), n=0,1,2,… where k∈{1,2,3,…}, the initial conditions yk, … ,y−1,y0 and the parameters p and q are non‐negative.

Design/methodology/approach

The paper studies characteristics such as the character of semicycles, periodicity and the global stability of the above mentioned difference equation.

Findings

In particular, the results solve the open problem introduced by Kulenovic and Ladas in their monograph, Dynamics of Second Order Rational Difference Equations with Open Problems and Conjectures.

Originality/value

The global behaviour of the solutions of equation yn+1=(pyn+ynk)/(qyn+ynk), n=0,1,2,… were investigated providing valuable conclusions on practical data.

Abstract

For n1, let Dn be the polydisk in n, and let Tn be the n-torus. L2(Tn) denotes the space of Lebesgue square integrable functions on Tn. In this paper we define slant Toeplitz operators on L2(Tn). Besides giving a necessary and sufficient condition for an operator on L2(Tn) to be slant Toeplitz, we also establish several properties of slant Toeplitz operators.

Abstract

Planning to add a hard disk to your computer? One of the possibilities you should consider is a unit that combines the disk with a magnetic tape drive. The disk will store your data; the tape will provide the backup security you need to protect against loss of valuable files.

Abstract

During the past year there have been several major changes in rewritable optical discs. The most obvious is the advent of 3½ inch rewritable disc drives, which use discs that look much like conventional 3½ inch floppies except that the iridescence of the optical disc surface shows through an open slot in the plastic package.

Abstract

Descriptions of optical disk equipment usually begin with terms like CD‐ROM or WORM, leaving the reader to grope for some understanding of what the equipment does. In that frame of mind, it can be difficult to think of creative ways to use the huge capacities offered by optical disks. And, there is little basis for constructive thought about the relative advantages of one type of equipment compared to another.

Abstract

Very large computer‐based files, such as those for catalogues, take up a lot of storage space, and are called upon for rapid access. Disk drives are the kind of computer equipment that is able to meet these storage needs — not ordinary disk drives that are limited to twenty or thirty million bytes (characters), but substantially larger drives that can hold 100 million bytes (100 MB) or more.

Abstract

Those who have an IBM/PC connected to a telephone line and find they frequently need to talk to the party on the other end, as well as use the keyboard, will appreciate the Asher modem board. It plugs into the computer and provides for a telephone handset that plugs into the board.

Abstract

With the help of laser light techniques, photocopy machines have been adapted to computer use. In an ordinary photocopy unit, toner powder or liquid is attracted to a print drum, but the attraction is selective. The toner sticks only to those areas that represent the text or graphical material to be reproduced.

Abstract

Austin Rover adopted open learning as a result of fundamental and massive changes in technology, productivity and its product range. With the help of the Manpower Services Commission (MSC) open learning centres at each of Austin Rover's main manufacturing sites have been established. Each centre has work stations (comprising a computer, disk drives, printers and monitors) study benches, a video resource, an audio resource, a reference library and an administrator. The use of the computer is encouraged as a training aid to deliver, manage or test the learning process and the trainee. The cost‐effectiveness of open learning, the development of courseware and the available resources are examined. The selection of employees for courses and the staff involved are discussed. The company sees open learning as an additional method of training to those already at the disposal of trainers.
