Abstract
Purpose
The purposes of this study are to develop an extended technology acceptance model (TAM) model by adding customer intimacy, perceived risk, trust and Sharia compliance as external variables, in which TAM is used as the evaluation method for the use of e-banking and m-banking by customers of Islamic bank; and to study the role of customer intimacy in increasing satisfaction and encouraging loyalty of Islamic bank customers in using e-banking and m-banking.
Design/methodology/approach
Data collection is carried out by the self-administered survey method with Islamic bank customers as target population. Multivariate analysis of variance and multiple linear regression are applied for data analysis.
Findings
Customer intimacy not only encourages the emergence of customer loyalty directly, but also affects the factors that determine customer loyalty itself, such as perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived risk, trust, sharia compliance and satisfaction. In other words, customer intimacy has a direct and indirect influence on loyalty.
Originality/value
This paper offers an extended TAM constructs to study the role of customer intimacy in increasing loyalty by considering various variables, namely, perceived risk, trust, Sharia compliance and satisfaction. Similar research is still very limited in the banking marketing literature, especially in Islamic banks context.

Abstract
Purpose
In many developing countries, the sanitation sector constitutes a major part of their strategic plans of reform. Yet with the very limited budget of the public treasury, countries opt to major lending institutions for funds. “Results-Based-Finance” is a new funding mechanism that has proven its efficiency in achieving the necessary reform in sanitation sectors. Due to the complexity of the funding tool, it is crucial to be able to decompose the project into smaller packages to be able to effectively control the project. The objective of this paper is to reach an optimum packaging scheme that enables the project to be successfully managed through better planning and cost control practices.
Design/methodology/approach
With the aid of Unified Modelling Language (UML), an algorithm is developed to map the logic behind the model suggested with detailed illustrations of its different modules. Object-oriented processes and operations are modeled using different diagrams of the language, which automatically generate the optimum packaging combination. The packaging model is then implemented via a number of computer-aided programs. The Microsoft Excel 2019 is used for calculation purposes. Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming language is used to make the model user-friendly for non-engineering stakeholders. The Palisade's Decision Tools Suite is used for the optimization process
Findings
The model is validated through a case study of a mega sanitation project located in Egypt. The model output is not only the content of the packages but also a complete managing plan which demonstrates many useful information to the decision-makers and government officials.
Originality/value
The research aim is to provide the construction industry with a tool that makes the packaging process of mega projects funded through the “Results-Based-Finance” mechanism, done in an automated manner. Moreover, the packages are selected in a way to optimize the project cashflow. Having the optimum package size shall ensure better planning and a more accurate cost control. Yet it is a challenging task; especially, when the project cash flow is very sensitive and intolerant to delays like in the “Results-Based-Finance” mechanism.

Abstract
Purpose
Construction material management plays a significant role in achieving successful project delivery of a construction project. However, ineffective material management is a critical issue in the construction industry, especially in developing economies, of which Sri Lanka is not an exception. Therefore, this study aims to focus on exploring the causes of ineffective material management practices in civil engineering construction projects in Sri Lanka and their impact on successful project delivery.
Design/methodology/approach
Furthermore, the literature findings were validated through the preliminary survey. Subsequently, a quantitative research approach was adopted to pursue the research aim. Questionnaire responses were obtained from 215 construction professionals in civil engineering projects who were selected using the judgemental and snowball sampling techniques. Collected data were analysed through Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) V26 and Microsoft Excel 2016.
Findings
Moreover, the study revealed that material price fluctuation, shortage of material in the market, delay in material procurement, inadequate planning and delays in material delivery are the most frequent causes of ineffective material management in civil engineering projects. In addition, it was evidenced that most ineffective material management practices cause both time and cost overruns in civil engineering construction projects. Most respondents emphasized inadequate planning, inadequate qualified and experienced staff, lack of supervision and lack of leadership as the causes for both time and cost overruns.
Originality/value
The study was concluded by proposing strategies for effective material management. Education/training/enlightenment of staff in charge of materials management, use of software like Microsoft Project, Primavera and similar software to eliminate manual errors in material management, and providing clear specifications to suppliers were the most agreed strategies for effective material management in civil engineering construction projects.

Purpose
This paper aims to explore pure squeeze elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) motion of circular contacts with micropolar lubricants under constant load. The proposed model can reasonably calculate the pressure distributions, film thicknesses and normal squeeze velocities during the pure squeeze process.
Design/methodology/approach
The transient modified Reynolds equation is derived in polar coordinates using micropolar fluids theory. The finite difference method and the Gauss–Seidel iteration method are used to solve the transient modified Reynolds equation, the elasticity deformation equation, load balance equation and lubricant rheology equations simultaneously.
Findings
The simulation results reveal that the effect of the micropolar lubricant is equivalent to enhancing the lubricant viscosity. As the film thickness is enlarged, the central pressure and film thickness for micropolar lubricants are larger than those of Newtonian fluids under the same load in the elastic deformation stage. The greater the coupling parameter (N), the greater the maximum central pressure. However, the smaller the characteristic length (L), the greater the maximum central pressure. The time needed to achieve maximum central pressure increases with increasing N and L.
Originality/value
A numerical method for general applications was developed to investigate the effects of the micropolar lubricants at pure squeeze EHL motion of circular contacts under constant load.

Purpose
Shopping online is a fast-growing phenomenon. A look into the rapid exponential growth of the primary players in this sector shows huge market potential for e-commerce. Given the convenience of internet shopping, e-commerce is seen as an emerging trend among consumers, specifically the younger generation (Gen Y). The popularity of e-commerce and online shopping has captured the attention of e-retailers, encouraging researchers to focus on this area. This paper aims to examine the relationship between online repurchase intention and other variables such as security, privacy concerns, trust and ease of use (EOU), mediated by e-satisfaction.
Design/methodology/approach
A self-administered survey method is used, and students aged between 20 and 35 years at universities in northern India are selected as subjects. To test the hypotheses of this study, an online questionnaire is distributed to participants, with 309 legitimate responses received. The data are analyzed using SPSS version 20.0 and AMOS version 20.0. Structural equation modeling is used to examine the model and to test the hypotheses.
Findings
The results of this study show that security, privacy concerns, trust and EOU have a positive significant relationship with repurchase intention. The findings also reveal that e-satisfaction has a full mediation effect between security and repurchase intention and also between trust and repurchase intention. In addition, a partial mediation effect of e-satisfaction is noted between EOU and repurchase intention and between privacy concerns and repurchase intention.
Practical implications
The results show that security, trust, EOU and privacy concerns are the factors that have most impact on consumer purchasing behavior. In terms of the repurchase intention of Gen Y consumers, what is needed are strong security features, an easy-to-use interface, a trusted privacy policy and the creation of trust. Furthermore, it may be beneficial to observe e-satisfaction as a mediator when identifying potential problems; online satisfaction is important for the group in this study, and the results show that it impacts on the relation between repurchase intention and other factors.
Social implications

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to analyze preferred supplier enablers (PSEs) and measure the interdependencies among themselves for enhancing preferred supplier relationship.
Design/methodology/approach
In the current study, an approach has been developed in which the significance of various PSEs was determined by applying Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and the prominent PSEs were screened out through Pareto analysis. Also, the interdependence among the prominent PSEs was measured by applying the Fuzzy Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory method in order to select the right PSEs in ascribing the Preferred Supplier Status. Finally, the weakest relationships among the PSEs were confirmed by applying the student’s t-test and then an impact relationship map of PSEs was developed.
Findings
The strength of relationships among the PSEs, grouping of PSEs into causes and effects on a causal diagram and a concise impact relationship map of PSEs were determined. Further, the PSEs that a manufacturer must primarily focus and monitor were also obtained.
Research limitations/implications
The study was conducted in an Indian electronic manufacturing environment. Therefore, the results obtained would be more relevant to the high end technology product manufacturers operating in the developing countries.
Practical implications
From the current study, a manufacturer can alleviate, favorably associate and integrate with the good suppliers and then eventually establish a strong supply base.
Originality/value
Manufacturers are looking for the closer and favored relationships by bringing in the concept of preferred supplier while dealing with their key suppliers. Thus, the results obtained from the current study would be of great assistance to a manufacturer in gaining an extra cutting-edge and, in turn, tackling the increased competitive pressures and reduced availability of resources.

Abstract
Purpose
This aim of this paper has been to investigate the squeeze effect of a water-lubricated tilting-pad thrust bearing during start-up and shut-down periods.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper a numerical model with a squeeze and slippage effect was adopted to analyse the asymmetry characteristic of a tilting-pad thrust bearing during start-up and shut-down periods. A test rig was built to verify numerical results, which were a combined measurement method in which acceleration sensor and torque sensor were used simultaneously to determine the angle change of the thrust pad.
Findings
It was found that as the velocity gradient increased, the difference of the minimum dimensionless film Hmin could be ignored in the start-up process. But in the shut-down process, as the velocity gradient increased, the value of Hmin also increased, which showed that there was an asymmetry characteristic of the tilting bearing in two processes. This phenomenon was verified by measuring the friction torque curve in the test.
Originality/value
The results of the studies demonstrated that the velocity gradient could be designed to reduce the friction of the thrust bearing, which would be beneficial to the working life of the tilting-pad thrust bearing.

The purpose of this paper is to explore the pure squeeze elastohydrodynamic lubrication motion of circular contacts with surface roughness under constant load conditions. The proposed model can reasonably calculate the effects of surface roughness on the transient pressure profiles, film shapes, and normal squeeze velocities during the pure squeeze process.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on Christensen's stochastic theory, the transient modified Reynolds equation is derived in polar coordinates to consider the effects of surface roughness. The finite difference method and the Gauss‐Seidel iteration method are used to solve the transient modified Reynolds equation, the elasticity deformation equation, load balance equation, and lubricant rheology equations simultaneously.
Findings
The simulation results reveal that the circular type roughness possesses storage oil capacity. Comparatively, the radial type roughness possesses leak oil capacity. Therefore, the film thickness is found with circular type roughness, followed by smooth, and then radial type roughness. In additional, the central dimensionless pressure is found with radial type roughness, followed by smooth, and then circular type roughness.
Originality/value
A numerical method for general applications with surface roughness was developed to investigate the pure squeeze action in an isothermal EHL spherical conjunction under constant load conditions, but without asperities contact.

Abstract
Recognition of a tactile image independent of position, size and orientation has been a goal of much recent research. Many tasks (e.g. parts identification) often give rise to situations which demand a more generalized methodology than the derivation of a single forward measurement, such as the computation of part area and perimeter from its run‐length‐coding representation. In this situation, an interpretation procedure generally adopts the techniques and methodology of a pattern recognition approach. To achieve maximum utility and flexibility, the methods used should be sensitive to any image change in size, translation and rotation, and should provide good repeatability. The algorithm used in this article generally meets these conditions. The results show that recognition schemes based on these invariants are position, size and orientation independent, and also flexible enough to learn most sets of parts. Assuming that parts can vary only in location, orientation and size, then certain moments are very convenient for normalization. For instance, the first moments of area give the centroid of a part, which is a natural origin of co‐ordinates for translation invariant measurements. Similarly, the eigenvectors of the matrix of second central moments define the directions of principal axes, which leads to rotation moment invariant measurements.

Abstract
Purpose
Supply chain (SC) environment is surrounded by risk variables. This issue is regarded as an emerging and strategic problem which must be resolved by SC executives. The ability to measuring green supplier’s performance and affecting risk variables to demonstrating effective suppliers list has a potential contribution to be investigated. This paper aims to develop a decision-making model to assess green suppliers under legislation and risk factors. This leads to fewer disruptions in managing the SC and its impact to further improvement. It also presents research concepts forming a new approach for identification, prediction and understating relationship of supply risk.
Design/methodology/approach
At primal stage, different risk factors that influence green suppliers’ performance are indicated and their relationship is analyzed using decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method. At the same time, failure mode and effect analysis is used to determine risk rating of each supplier. Finally, the evaluation based on distance from average solution (EDAS) method ranks suppliers and several comparisons and analysis are performed to test the stability of the results. The approaches include comparison to technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution, multi-attributive border approximation area comparison, Vlse Kriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje and complex proportional assessment methods, followed by analysis of rank reversal, weight sensitivity analysis and effect of dynamic metrics.
Findings
A real-time case study on green supplier selection (GSS) problem of a reputed construction company of Spain has been presented to demonstrate the practical aspects of the proposed method. In practice, though organizations are aware of various risks from local and global suppliers, it is difficult to incorporate these risk factors for ranking the suppliers. This real-case application shows the evaluation and incorporation of risk factors into the supplier selection model.
Practical implications
The proposed multi-criteria decision model quantitatively aids managers in selecting green suppliers considering risk factors.
Originality/value
A new model has been developed to present a sound mathematical model for solving GSS problems which considers the interaction between the supplier selection risk factors by proposing an integrated analytical approach for selecting green suppliers strategically consisting of DEMATEL, FMEA and EDAS methods.
