Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to theorize and discuss potential factors for convergence between libraries, archives and museums (LAMs).
Design/methodology/approach
This is a conceptual paper that criticizes existing research on the convergence between the LAMs for a lack of theoretical reflection and a sacralization of technology. Therefore, concepts such as convergent evolution, isomorphism, social fields and autonomy are used to analyze other potential factors for convergence.
Findings
The paper demonstrates that digitalization is not the only potential driver of convergence between the LAMs. Indeed, other changes in institutions’ environments, such as societal changes, shifts in cultural policy and increasingly common practices among cultural institutions can represent important drivers.
Research limitations/implications
Given that this paper is primarily based on theoretical reflections, future research should empirically investigate the non-digital factors suggested for convergence.
Originality/value
The paper represents an attempt to detect a “blind spot” in existing research on convergences between the LAM institutions and to identify some potential paths for future research to follow.

The case series starts by describing how a fictitious company (called L'ArtiMarché) faced an individual corruption issue after entering the Russian market. After describing the company's creative reaction, the case shows that corruption issues can easily reoccur and might require a more systematic approach of L'ArtiMarché to fight corruption within the company and in the society at large.

Abstract
To achieve change in the Australian red meat processing industry it is necessary to address the tyranny of distance in a dispersed industry, a culture of “firefighting” rather than root cause problem solving and a low investment in staff training and development. Internet‐based learning offers potential where off‐the‐job training is not feasible or efficient. Hence our decision to design a management development initiative for the industry. $LAM (pronounced “slam” – may be viewed at URL: http://www.bus.qut.edu.au/$lam/) is the name coined for the learning process that uses interactive Internet‐based decision support systems. $LAM integrates high quality content, state‐of‐the‐art instructional design principles and motivational strategies. The goal was the delivery of an industry specific cost of quality tutorial and activity based projects able to promote learners’ ability to formulate conceptual generalisations and promote change in developing new responses to industry issues.

Abstract
Discusses how resources are allocated in capitalist and socialist economies comparing the concept of interest (e.g. for present value calculations) with the use of capital charges (e.g. for calculating opportunity cost). Contrasts the Islamic economic system, which rejects interest but considers moral factors and the will of Allah when measuring welfare. Explains how these ideas can be expressed in the accounting price of capital (for objective factors) and by Islamic welfare criteria; and how they differ from the Pareto Criterion and capitalist concepts of utility. Lists four principles and 12 welfare criteria for an Islamic allocation of resources; and some hints on their practical application before summarizing the conclusions.

Abstract
The Navier‐Stokes equation and the species continuity equation have been solved numerically in a boundary fitted coordinate system comprising the geometry of a large scale industrial size tundish. The solution of the species continuity equation predicts the time evolution of the concentration of a tracer at the outlets of a six strand billet caster tundish. The numerical prediction of the tracer concentration has been made with six different turbulence models (the standard k‐ε, the k‐ε RNG, the Low Re number Lam‐Bremhorst model, the Chen‐Kim high Re number model (CK), the Chen‐Kim low Re number model (CKL) and the simplest constant effective viscosity model (CEV)) which favorably compares with that of the experimental observation for a single strand bare tundish. It has been found that the overall comparison of the k‐ε model, the RNG, the Lam‐Bremhorst and the CK model is much better than the CKL model and the CEV model as far as gross quantities like the mean residence time and the ratio of mixed to dead volume are concerned. However, the k‐ε model predicts the closest value to the experimental observation compared to all other models. The prediction of the transient behavior of the tracer is best done by the Lam‐Bremhorst model and then by the RNG model, but these models do not predict the gross quantities that accurately like the k‐ε model for a single strand bare tundish. With the help of the above six turbulence models mixing parameters such as the ratio of mix to dead volume and the mean residence time were computed for the six strand tundish for different outlet positions, height of advanced pouring box (APB) and shroud immersion depth. It was found that three turbulence models show a peak value in the ratio of mix to dead volume when the outlets were placed at 200 mm away from the wall. An APB was put on the bottom of the tundish surrounding the inlet jet when the outlets were kept at 200 mm away from the wall. It was also found that there exists an optimum height of the APB where the ratio of mix to dead volume and the mean residence time attain further peak values signifying better mixing in the tundish. At this optimum height of the APB, the shroud immersion depth was made to change from 0 to 400 mm. It was also observed that there exists an optimum immersion depth of the shroud where the ratio of mix to dead volume still attains another peak signifying still better mixing. However, all the turbulence models do not predict the same optimum height of the APB and the same shroud immersion depth as the optimum depth. The optimum height of the APB and the shroud immersion depth were decided when two or more turbulence models predict the same values.

Abstract
Purpose
The idea of convergence of cultural institutions, especially the libraries, archives and museums (LAMS) to operate as one, has a long theoretical history which unfortunately has not been translated into practice. This subject has been discussed by a number of scholars but the implementation has just remained theoretical with only a few countries practically adopting such an organisational structure. In Africa, this concept of LAMS is yet to gain traction. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is aimed at proposing such LAMS structures for African nations, especially in Zimbabwe and South Africa considering the emergence of community “archives” which have blurred further the distinction between museology, archiving and librarianship. The motivation in advocating for the adoption of LAMS is also driven by the theory behind participatory archives which thrive on the advanced use of internet including social media platforms that can make it possible to have one-stop virtual archive on the cloud that also incorporates museums and libraries.
Design/methodology/approach
This is a concept paper which reviewed the literature on national and community archives in Zimbabwe and South Africa which were purposively selected because of their long history in archiving. This was done to come up with a proposed “independent” national heritage organisational structure. “Independent” structure because this paper was based on the assumption that the independence of decision-making in national archival structures in Zimbabwe and South Africa is compromised and biased towards the ethos of political parties’ ruling governments.
Findings
Proposed integrated framework for community archives into the sustainable national archival system which also incorporates the role that can be played by universities. The framework is likely to be feasible and of benefit in the countries that are struggling to have national mainstream independent archives which are just not paying allegiance to those who are in power.
Originality/value
This study is unique in the sense that it mixes LAMS and the concept of independent archival structure in a regional comparative nature that involves Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Abstract
The Navier‐Stokes equation and the species continuity equation have been solved numerically in a boundary fitted coordinate system comprising the geometry of a large scale industrial size tundish. The solution of the species continuity equation predicts the time evolution of the concentration of a tracer at the outlet of a single strand bare tundish. The numerical prediction of the tracer concentration has been made with three different turbulence models; (a standard k‐ε, a k‐ε RNG and a Low Re number Lam‐Bremhorst model) which favorably compares with that of the experimental observation for a single strand bare tundish. It has been found that the overall comparison of k‐ε model with that of the experiment is better than the other two turbulence models as far as gross quantities like mean residence time and ratio of mixed to dead volume are concerned. However, it has been found that the initial transient development of the tracer concentration is best predicted by the Lam‐Bremhorst model and then by the RNG model. The k‐ε model predicts the tracer concentration much better than the other two models after the initial transience (t>40 per cent of mean residence time) and the RNG model lies in between the k‐ε and the Lam‐Bremhorst one. The numerical study has been extended to a multi strand tundish (having 6 outlets) where the effect of outlet positions on the ratio of mix to dead volume has been studied with the help of the above three turbulence models. It has been found that all the three turbulence models show a peak value for the ratio of mix to dead volume (a mixing parameter) when the outlets are placed 200 mm away from the wall (position‐2) thus signifying an optimum location for the outlets to get highest mixing in a given multi strand tundish.
