Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to analyze and summarize growth and development of technology business incubation system in India. The study in this route tries to explore factors which include various actors and agencies influencing the process of incubation and innovation.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper in route to access the role of different actors and agencies situated around the incubation process is being executed through the systems of innovation framework. Data have been collected from the secondary sources including government department, ministries and other sources.
Findings
The study besides providing an in-depth analysis of the incubation process in India finds that the process is relatively new in the Indian context and lacks a profound policy for escalating the process of technological incubation. The study also finds that over the years India’s innovation potential has escalated significantly which in a way can be seen as an optimistic result in the growth and development of technology business incubation.
Originality/value
The proposed study is one of the few in this category, especially while analyzing technology business incubation with respect to India. The study also tries to add on literature in the domain of technology incubation especially in the context of India.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to concentrate on research that has been conducted in the previous decade on metamaterial (MTM)-based sensors for material characterization, which includes solid dielectrics, micro fluids and biomolecules.
Design/methodology/approach
There has been a vast advancement in sensors based on MTM since the past few decades. MTM elements provide a sensitive response to materials while having a tiny footprint, making them an appealing alternative for realizing diverse sensing devices.
Findings
Related research papers on MTM sensors published in reputable journals were reviewed in this report, with a specific emphasis on the structure, size and nature of the materials characterized. Because electromagnetic wave interaction excites MTM structures, sensing applications around the electromagnetic spectrum are possible.
Originality/value
The paper contains valuable information on MTM sensor technology for material characterization, and this study also highlights the challenges and approaches that will guide future development.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to retrieve the dielectric constant of the material under test (MUT) by using an empirical relationship, which relates the dielectric properties with all three resonant frequencies of the proposed sensor. Each notch of the sensor is analyzed for sensitivity by using 15 different MUTs with relative permittivity ranging from 1.006 to 16.5 with a fixed dimension of 12 mm × 12 mm × 1.2 mm.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, we present a triple-notch metamaterial-based sensor for the solid dielectric characterization based on a microstrip transmission line and a direct coupled-double split ring resonator (DC-DSRR). The proposed sensor is designed, and its response is measured using a vector network analyzer to verify the concept. The shift in the resonant frequencies of the proposed sensor owing to contact with MUT is depicted as a function of permittivity using the curve fitting tool.
Findings
The proposed sensors have three notches, with the third notch being more sensitive than the first and second notch because of the high resonance frequency. For the first, second and third resonances, the proposed sensor has sensitivity ranges from 4.9% to 14.68%, 8.97% to 23.95% and 15.48% to 29.36%, respectively. The findings of the simulations, measurements and formulations are all in good accord.
Originality/value
In comparison to previous solid dielectric metamaterial sensors, the proposed triple-notch sensor based on a microstrip transmission line and DC-DSRR has the following advantages: it has a simple unit-cell structure and meets the needs of miniaturization, compact size, low cost and improved sensitivity. It determines the relative permittivity using all three notches so that the accuracy of the measurement is enhanced as compared with single- and double-notch sensors.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to propose a conceptual framework for a comprehensive agricultural financial service to address the problems faced by the farmers and the insurance companies and to suggest the product delivery method to increase the acquisition rate of the product.
Design/methodology/approach
A theoretical framework is proposed based on the pros and cons of various insurance services floated out earlier as well as the various risks faced by the farmers. Subsequently, on the basis of the factors that affect the take up rate of insurance products, the paper proposes an adequate delivery strategy.
Findings
An efficient integrated framework for risk management in agriculture has been developed by interlinking various elements like price risk, yield risk and demand risk in addition to providing additional advisory and credit services. Other services only cover one or two of these and hence, are not adequate. Also, illiteracy of farmers is the main bottleneck that decreases the take up rate and can be addressed by appointing agro-financial agents.
Practical implications
The frameworks proposed if brought into practice will lead to a holistic agro-financial service and help in overall advancement of the agricultural sector and economy.
Originality/value
This paper would help insurance companies to come out with better insurance products for the agricultural community that will be easier to administer and economically more viable and thus fulfils the criteria for a holistic insurance framework.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to provide a methodology for assessing supply risk for a product category. The fuzzy based analytic hierarchy process (Fuzzy AHP) has been used for the purpose. The technique is used to determine the supply related risk and its potential impact on the buyer organization.
Design/methodology/approach
The research uses case analysis approach to understand the supply related risks and then applying fuzzy AHP for prioritization of the same.
Findings
The result of the case example indicates that the suggested approach of fuzzy AHP methodology seems feasible for risk assessment in supply chain management as it allows the personnel to express their judgments regarding the importance of each type of risk elements and evaluate the situation from their own perspective and then have this input coordinated in a quantitative fashion.
Practical implications
Supply chain managers can use this research as a base for developing risk assessment tool. The result can help as a benchmarking tool for the supply management professionals. By having a better understanding of which element has the greatest effect on risk, they can focus their attention on reducing the chance that risk can have on their organizations success and profitability.
Originality/value
This paper provides practitioners with a methodology for analyzing supply side risk as an objective of creating customer value by delivering perfect order.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to understand the process through which external diffusion of business-to-business (B2B) e-procurement impacts firm performance. The research model has been developed to empirically examine the role of information transparency and supply chain coordination in improving the firm financial performance by external diffusion of e-procurement.
Design/methodology/approach
The survey is conducted in India with a target population of purchasing professionals working on the B2B e-procurement platform. The measurement model was first tested by using confirmatory factor analysis for reliability and validity, then structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the hypotheses of the research model using AMOS 22. The phantom model approach has been used for testing multiple mediators.
Findings
The result of the study highlights the importance of information transparency and supply chain coordination in enhancing the firm financial performance by external diffusion of e-procurement. The results establish the role of information transparency in enhancing firm performance by improving supply chain coordination. The results also indicate that supply chain coordination mediates the relationship between external diffusion of e-procurement and firm financial performance.
Originality/value
This is the first study that has focused on the external diffusion of e-procurement and its impact on firm performance. Also, this study attempted to understand the process through which external diffusion of e-procurement impacts the firm financial performance.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to use Twitter analytics for analyzing the startup ecosystem of India.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper uses descriptive analysis and content analytics techniques of social media analytics to examine 53,115 tweets from 15 Indian startups across different industries. The study also employs techniques such as Naïve Bayes Algorithm for sentiment analysis and Latent Dirichlet allocation algorithm for topic modeling of Twitter feeds to generate insights for the startup ecosystem in India.
Findings
The Indian startup ecosystem is inclined toward digital technologies, concerned with people, planet and profit, with resource availability and information as the key to success. The study categorizes the emotions of tweets as positive, neutral and negative. It was found that the Indian startup ecosystem has more positive sentiments than negative sentiments. Topic modeling enables the categorization of the identified keywords into clusters. Also, the study concludes on the note that the future of the Indian startup ecosystem is Digital India.
Research limitations/implications
The analysis provides a methodology that future researchers can use to extract relevant information from Twitter to investigate any issue.
Originality/value
Any attempt to analyze the startup ecosystem of India through social media analysis is limited. This research aims to bridge such a gap and tries to analyze the startup ecosystem of India from the lens of social media platforms like Twitter.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to analyze the structure and trend in employment in the Indian economy between 1980-8081 and 2015-2016.
Design/methodology/approach
Use of India KLEMS data set. Estimate growth rate of employment and discuss employment prospects using “Point” employment elasticity.
Findings
Whilst India’s GDP growth rate has been quite impressive since the reforms of 1991, the rate of employment growth, especially in the recent period of 2003-2015, has been quite slow (1 per cent) with low employment elasticity (0.1). The pattern of employment growth has also been imbalanced with slow rate of employment growth in manufacturing and rapid growth rate in the construction sector. India now also has low labour force participation rate and a large share of informal employment in the economy.
Research limitations/implications
The limitation is the lack of reliable data on employment for the recent period.
Practical implications
With overall low employment elasticity, India would have to explore sectors where more employment opportunities could be created.
Social implications
India has to create not only more jobs but also “good” jobs.
Originality/value
The India KLEMS data provide a time series for employment, which has been used in this paper to find “Point” elasticity instead of arc elasticity of employment and is an improvement over existing employment elasticity estimates.

Abstract
Purpose
Research has extensively focused on the cultural differences in supply chain collaboration while neglecting the importance of cultural similarities and compatible goals among supply chain members. With the rise of global supply chain network, the choice of supply chain orientation is critical. This study argues that performance differences between these configurations highlight managerial implications for sustainable development.
Design/methodology/approach
Drawing from uncertainty reduction and cognitive social capital theories, this study developed a taxonomy of manufacturing firms based on process alignment between cultural compatibility and supply chain communication. The empirical data used in this study were drawn from the Global Manufacturing Research Group (GMRG) survey project, with data collected from 680 manufacturing companies, across various industry sectors and countries.
Findings
There appeared to be consistent three major configurations: the Proactive, the Initiative and the Reactive. Manufacturers distanced themselves based mainly on communication with customers on events and proprietary information. Communication-cultural compatibility taxonomies influence differently on operations and financial performance. The Initiative, who excelled in communication practices gained significant improvement in efficiency and delivery measures. While Reactive lagged, Proactive aligned in both capabilities to experience higher payoffs in operational and financial measures. The findings offer a step-by-step approach where manufacturers intensify communication with partners for better efficiency and delivery measures, then align cultural practices to obtain financial, quality and innovation performance.
Research limitations/implications
It will be fruitful for future research to examine the evolution of longitudinally. A comparison between developed and developing economies will be of interest.
Practical implications
The findings provide a step-by-step decision-making process for supply chain communication and offer guidance especially for global supply chain managers.
Originality/value
This study adds greater comprehensiveness and richness to the information exchange literature on performance by process aligning to enhance cultural compatibility.
