Abstract
The United States drug store industry is expanding in both sales volume and store count. The most significant market forces shaping these trends are demographic characteristics, economic fundamentals and competitive formats. Demographically, the deceleration of population growth, the ageing of the population and the lifestyles of “baby boomers” are the most significant factors impacting on drug store performance. Limited new shopping centre construction, continued bankruptcies and acquisitions, and consumer concentration on price are the near term economic forces at work in the industry. Competitively, pressure is being applied from outside the industry by the addition of prescription departments in supermarkets and discount department stores. Internally, large discount drug stores have become a new merchandising force. These trends appear to favour the continued growth of well‐capitalised drug store chains that focus on a health and personal care image and emphasise convenience

Abstract
During oral exams at the German distance learning university, we noticed that students fear that they will be faced with questions that they have not anticipated. In our opinion, this is mainly because students have no chance to train and thereby gather positive experiences with exam situations as they are distributed all over Germany and thus it is difficult for them to meet each other. In this paper, we present a design space of 23 learning gadgets, i.e. tools that support collaborative learning, to allow collaborative exam preparation in peer‐based distributed student groups. We discuss this design space according to eight dimensions of the concept of FLOW (Csikszentmihalyi, 1991) that constitutes enjoyable situations. Two of the learning gadgets were implemented and integrated in the CURE environment, a web‐based collaborative learning platform that was developed to support different collaborative learning scenarios, e.g. collaborative exercises or virtual seminars. We discuss these learning gadgets in more detail and show how they promise an enjoyable collaborative exam preparation.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to identify and fill a gap in the knowledge of the contribution of Henry S. Dennison toward management and organization studies and problematize the assumptions underlying the mainstream understanding of scientific management and human relations.
Design/methodology/approach
Primary sources are in the guise of archival papers, as well as published journal articles, books and book chapters; secondary sources in the guise of material about Dennison, as well as interviews with family and friends.
Findings
The paper concludes that Dennison made an original and enduring contribution to management theory including, but not isolated to, personnel management, organizational behavior and corporate governance that influenced key thinkers of his times.
Practical implications
Dennison was a practicing manager – in fact, he was the president of (what was) his family company which operates today as Avery Dennison – but he still found the time and energy for active public service and to peripatetically articulate his management “praxis”. The paper reveals that much of Dennison’s thoughts and deeds have much relevance today. Among other issues, in his concern with reducing labor turnover and unemployment, in devising and implementing effective personnel management and in his pioneering work on human motivation, group dynamics, goal congruence, worker empowerment and executive compensation, issues of profound importance to business leaders today can be found.
Originality/value
To date, only piecemeal attempts have been made to chronicle Dennison’s contributions to management and organization theory, but these have been scattered across the social sciences. There has been neither any systematic, consolidated synthesis of his contributions to management and organization studies nor of his impact on the thinking of key thinkers of his times.

This paper aims to reflect on the nature of “parkrun tourism” and the challenges this presents to the understanding of sports tourism.
Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to reflect on the nature of “parkrun tourism” and the challenges this presents to the understanding of sports tourism.
Design/methodology/approach
The contradictions and contested terrain of sports tourism is discussed with the reference to three of the most widely used definitions for the field.
Findings
Parkrun tourism is introduced comprising four formats: spanning the domestic and global; the informal and formal; the organic and institutional; and the experience and commercial product.
Research limitations/implications
The particular challenges that parkrun tourism presents to existing understandings of sports tourism is considered. The conclusion discusses the prospect of future research, both empirical and theoretical, on parkrun tourism.
Practical implications
The authors outline a range of ways in which parkrun tourism affords opportunity for further inquiry for parkrun scholarship and sports tourism.
Originality/value
A new specification for sports tourism is proposed that accommodates parkrun tourism.

Abstract
Instrumentation to be shown will include: The Brookfield Helipath stand may be used with a suitable Brookfield viscometer fitted with a T‐bar spindle, the Helipath stand permits viscosity measurement of materials i.e. pastes, putty, creams, gelating, wax, resins and inks. The Stand incorporates a synchronous motor which automatically lowers or raises the viscometer enabling its rotating shearing element to describe a helical path through the sample.

The purpose of this paper is to optimize a mixed juice made from Brazilian Cerrado fruits (cagaita, mangaba and marolo).
Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to optimize a mixed juice made from Brazilian Cerrado fruits (cagaita, mangaba and marolo).
Design/methodology/approach
The juices were evaluated by rheological, physical, physicochemical, nutritional and sensory acceptance analyses. The mixture design is a widely used tool for product optimization, allowing the determination of factors, combinations and levels that provide best responses.
Findings
The results show that using mangaba pulp negatively contributed to juice acceptance, but resulted in the highest ascorbic acid content. The treatments produced using cagaita and marolo pulps presented a greater acceptance by consumers, and contributed to higher antioxidant activity and phenolic compounds content. The juice prepared with a mixture of equivalent quantities of the three fruits had the highest β-carotene and lycopene contents.
Practical implications
This research has shown that different fruit combinations can improve sensory and nutritional characteristics, adding value to the final product.
Social implications
The processing of mixed juices could increase population access to the nutrients present in Brazilian Cerrado fruits, given that they are seasonal and perishable fruits.
Originality/value
In recent years, there has been an increase in the development of new food products based on Cerrado native fruits, however information on the chemical and nutritional characteristics, rheological behavior, and sensory attributes of the derivative products are still limited, resulting in a lack of scientific investments in this area. In addition, it is necessary to optimize the developed products to offer the consumer a unique product, combining the characteristics of two or more fruits, which adds value to the final product.

The purpose of this paper is to study the effects of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) loading on the thermal conductivity of nanocomposites.
Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to study the effects of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) loading on the thermal conductivity of nanocomposites.
Design/methodology/approach
In this paper, the polymer nanocomposite of MWCNT nanoparticles incorporated with PLA and LNR as compatibilizer were prepared via melt blending method.
Findings
The result has shown that the sample with 3.5 wt.% of MWCNT content provided higher thermal conductivity which is believed to be the optimum loading that formed the suitable percolated network for phonon conduction facilitation because of better dispersion in the PLA/LNR matrix as confirmed by SEM micrograph.
Originality/value
Thermal conductivity of polylactic acid (PLA)/liquid natural rubber (LNR) matrix improved with MWCNT.
