Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to establish an assembly accuracy analysis model of deployable arms based on Jacobian–Torsor theory to improve the assembly accuracy. Spacecraft deployable arm is one of the core components of spacecraft. Reducing the errors in assembly process is the main method to improve the assembly accuracy of spacecraft deployable arms.

Design/methodology/approach

First, the influence of composite connecting rod, root joint and arm joint on assembly accuracy in the tandem assembly process is analyzed to propose the assembly accuracy analysis model. Second, a non-tandem assembly process of “two joints fixed-composite rod installed-flange gasket compensated” is proposed and analyzed to improve the assembly accuracy of deployable arms. Finally, the feasibility of non-tandem assembly process strategy is verified by assembly experiment.

Findings

The experiential results show that the assembly errors are reduced compared with the tandem assembly process. The errors on axes x, y and z directions decreased from 14.1009 mm, 14.2424 mm and 0.8414 mm to 0.922 mm, 0.671 mm and 0.2393 mm, respectively. The errors round axes x and y directions also decreased from 0.0050° and 0.0053° to 0.00292° and 0.00251°, respectively.

Originality/value

This paper presents an assembly accuracy analysis model of deployable arms and applies the model to calculate assembly errors in tandem assembly process. In addition, a non-tandem assembly process is proposed based on the model. The experimental results show that the non-tandem assembly process can improve the assembly accuracy of deployable arms.

Abstract

Purpose

Assembly errors of aeroengine rotor must be controlled to improve the aeroengine efficiency. However, current method cannot truly reflect assembly errors of the rotor in working state owing to difficulties in error analysis. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to establish an optimization method for aeroengine rotor stacking assembly.

Design/methodology/approach

The assembly structure of aeroengine rotor is featured. Rotor eccentricity is optimized based on Jacobian–Torsor model. Then, an optimization method for assembly work is proposed. The assembly process of the high-pressure compressor rotor and the high-pressure turbine rotor as the rotor core assembly is mainly considered.

Findings

An aeroengine rotor is assembled to verify the method. The results show that the predicted eccentricity differed from the measured eccentricity by 6.1%, with a comprehensive error of 8.1%. Thus, the optimization method has certain significance for rotor assembly error analysis and assembly process optimization.

Originality/value

In view of the error analysis in the stacking assembly of aeroengine rotor, an innovative optimization method is proposed. The method provides a novel approach for the aeroengine rotor assembly optimization and is applicable for the assembly of high-pressure compressor rotor and high-pressure turbine rotor as the rotor core assembly.

This paper aims to report the influence of hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) on phosphate coatings formed on AZ31 magnesium alloys.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to report the influence of hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) on phosphate coatings formed on AZ31 magnesium alloys.

Design/methodology/approach

These phosphate coatings were obtained by immersing magnesium alloys in phosphate baths with HMTA. The morphology and composition of the phosphate coatings were investigated via scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectrometry and X-ray diffraction.

Findings

The phosphate coatings were mainly composed of CaHPO4·2H2O. The HMTA concentration in the phosphate bath influenced the crystallization and corrosion resistance of the phosphate coating.

Originality/value

The polarization curve shows that the anti-corrosion qualities of the phosphate coating were optimal when the HMTA concentration was 1.0 g/L in the phosphate bath. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) shows that the electrochemical impedances increased gradually when the HMTA concentration varied from 1.0 to 3.0 g/L.

Abstract

Purpose

During service period, due to the overload or other non-load factors, cracks of the pre-stressed concrete beam are seriously affecting the safety of the bridge structure. The purpose of this paper is to quickly realize the bearing capacity and the loss of the section stiffness through fracture characteristics and make correct judgments.

Design/methodology/approach

Through the flexural failure test of two test beams: collecting data of fracture characteristics and section stiffness loss value. According to the fracture characteristic data, the flexural stiffness of the section is obtained by the nonlinear calculation method, and the results are verified by test data. Data regression method is used to establish the section flexural stiffness loss ratio calculation formula, nominal tensile strain at the bottom edge of the cross-section used as a variable factor, and the accuracy of this formula is verified by comparing the flexural failure test results of pre-stressed hollow plates.

Findings

The loss of the flexural stiffness of section shows the decrease trend of first-fast-then-slow and the structural stiffness is sensitive to the initial cracking of beam. The calculation formula on the loss ratio of the flexural stiffness of section established with the nominal tensile stress at the bottom edge of beam as a variable is accurate and feasible, it realizes the possibility of assessing the stiffness loss of pre-stressed concrete structure by adopting the statistic parameters on crack characteristics.

Originality/value

A method for quickly determine the stiffness loss of structures by using fracture characteristics is established, and using this method, engineers can quickly determine whether a bridge is a dangerous bridge, without loading test. So, this method not only ensures the safety of human life, but also saves money.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of structural parameters of fabric on thermal insulation properties of the coated fabric.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of structural parameters of fabric on thermal insulation properties of the coated fabric.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors established a numerical model for the ablation of silicone resin-coated fabric under high heat flow, and the simulation results have been validated by quartz lamp ablation experiment. The model was used to investigate the effects of structural parameters of glass fiber fabrics on the heat transfer process of the coated fabric.

Findings

The numerical values were in agreement with the experimental values. The thermal insulation of the coated glass fiber fabric was better than coated carbon fabric. Thermal insulation performance of the coated glass fiber fabrics was in order plain < 2/1 twill < 3/3 twill < 5/3 stain fabric. Increasing the warp density, from 100 to 180 ends/10 cm, the temperature of the back surface of the coated glass fiber fabric was reduced from 601°C to 553°C. Thermal insulation performance dramatically increased as yarn fineness went from 129 to 280 tex, and the temperature difference was 63°C.

Research limitations/implications

In the ablation process, to simplify the calculation, the combustion reaction of silicone resin was ignored, which can be added in the future research.

Originality/value

This paper provides the ablation model of the silicon-coated fabric based on the 3D geometry model to explore the influence of the structural parameters of coated glass fiber fabric on its thermal protection performance.

Abstract

Purpose

This study aims to create an idea and a framework to enhance customer stickiness and improve transformation efficiency flow of tourism products from online to offline platforms through the application of personalized recommendation technology.

Design/methodology/approach

Studies on an overview of progress in current personalized recommendation research, business scenario analysis of online tourism and some possible logical limitations discussion are required for improvement. This study clarifies concepts including online tourism user behavior and generated data, user preference themes and spaces, user models and image and user-product (two-dimensional matrix, etc.). The author then creates a user portrait based on behavior data convergence to locate the user's role from both horizontal and vertical dimensions and also clear the logical levels and associations among them, verifying the similarity in measurement and calculation and optimizing the implementation of the personalized recommendation program under online tourism business scenarios.

Findings

By providing a framework design about personalized recommendations of online tourism including a flow from data collection to a personalized recommendation algorithm selection, logical analysis is established while the corresponding personalization algorithm is improved.

Originality/value

This study show a logical shift of personalized recommendations in online tourism management from focusing on the simple collection of travel information and the logical speculation of tourism products to focusing on the individual behavior of potential travelers.
