Abstract
Purpose
In response to the poor reliability of live maintenance robots in semi-structured environments and the difficulty of monitoring their operation status, this paper aims to propose an online method for evaluating the operation status of high-voltage live maintenance robots based on fuzzy control.
Design/methodology/approach
The robot bolt tightening operation is taken as an example. During the whole operation process, the key technologies of bolt tightening are analyzed theoretically, a two-dimensional fuzzy control model of bolt tightening process control is established and the control parameters, which characterize the operation status, are obtained. Through dynamic adjustment of the fuzzy controller, real-time online monitoring of the robot operation status can be achieved.
Findings
The results of simulation experiments and 220 kV live operation experiments show that the reliability of robot bolt tightening is greatly enhanced by the proposed control method.
Originality/value
The results not only verify the engineering practicability of the fuzzy control-based method but also indicate that it can improve efficiency, safety and operability.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this article is to look for a systematic platform that can benefit knowledge creation within an organization.
Design/methodology/approach
This study uses personal interviews based on fieldwork and analysis from first and second hand data.
Findings
A new operational mechanism based on knowledge capitalism. Through dynamic allocation of internal shares and meritorious allocation of positions, one company can continually restructure itself to create more opportunities for its staff, so as to motivate its employees and promote the creation of knowledge to develop its core competence.
Research limitations/implication
No one system is the best, but one can try to find the most suitable one. The paper presents a case study of a Chinese knowledge‐based firm in its initial period for rapid growth, noting that it may not be suitable for a large MNC.
Practical implications
Find a lever for each complicated systematic process of knowledge management, rather than focus on an individual factor.
Originality/value
This paper offers practical help to organizational administrators, especially for knowledge‐based firms. It reveals that innovation in operational mechanism is of importance for the motivation of employees to keep the vigour of enterprise.

Abstract
In the last four years, since Volume I of this Bibliography first appeared, there has been an explosion of literature in all the main functional areas of business. This wealth of material poses problems for the researcher in management studies — and, of course, for the librarian: uncovering what has been written in any one area is not an easy task. This volume aims to help the librarian and the researcher overcome some of the immediate problems of identification of material. It is an annotated bibliography of management, drawing on the wide variety of literature produced by MCB University Press. Over the last four years, MCB University Press has produced an extensive range of books and serial publications covering most of the established and many of the developing areas of management. This volume, in conjunction with Volume I, provides a guide to all the material published so far.

Abstract
The financial problems of the 1970's are forcing universities and C.A.E.'s to give increasing attention to the resource allocation process. In considering this issue one of the first problems encountered is the lack of goal clarity, a lack which makes rational budgeting a difficult task. The nature of the budgetary process is strongly influenced by the structural character of university decision‐making which is primarily political, despite the use of quasi‐bureaucratic devices such as formula budgeting. There is empirical evidence to support the political model and internal pressure groups play the major role in this although the external funding of research is also a significant factor. One of the predominant influences is the incentive system of the institution and the fact that there are few rewards for improving the efficiency of the educational process has implications for resource allocation. Modern techniques which have proved to be useful in government institutions such as program budgeting, do not appear to have wide application in tertiary education.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to explore the social entrepreneurs’ attention allocation and their resource action that lead to hybrid organization using the paradox theory. Paradox theory deepens understandings of the varied nature, dynamics and outcomes of entrepreneurial tensions. This study explores the systematic effects of internal and external attention on both economic and social performance.
Design/methodology/approach
First, theoretically, hypotheses linking different attention allocations to ambidextrous behavior and entrepreneurial performance were formulated. Subsequently, the empirical studies based on Chinese social entrepreneurship were conducted to test the hypotheses.
Findings
The study provides support to the hypotheses showing that external attention is linked to resource acquisition and social performance, while internal attention is linked to resource acquisition and strategic human resource management and thus these ambidextrous behaviors promote both social and economic performance. Furthermore, normal pressure moderates the relations between internal attention and strategic human resource management only.
Research limitations/implications
The research measures entrepreneurs’ attention with questionnaire rather than psych test. Also, static data rather than longitudinal research is designed to test the hypotheses.
Practical implications
Deeper understanding of the attention of social entrepreneurs and resource action can help entrepreneurial outcomes and can potentially contribute to paradox and tension management by entrepreneurial practitioners in China.
Originality/value
Social entrepreneurs’ different attention allocation and related entrepreneurial ambidextrous behavior processes are linked to paradoxical thinking for the first time. The findings of this research can potentially enhance social entrepreneurship paradoxical thinking aimed at preventing mission drift.

Abstract
This book is a policy proposal aimed at the democratic left. It is concerned with gradual but radical reform of the socio‐economic system. An integrated policy of industrial and economic democracy, which centres around the establishment of a new sector of employee‐controlled enterprises, is presented. The proposal would retain the mix‐ed economy, but transform it into a much better “mixture”, with increased employee‐power in all sectors. While there is much of enduring value in our liberal western way of life, gross inequalities of wealth and power persist in our society.
