Abstract
Purpose
This study focuses on memorable customer shopping experience design in the sporting goods retail setting. It aims to identify the phygital customers' needs and expectations that are satisfied through in-store technologies and to detect the in-store strategies that use these technologies to make the store attractive and experiential.
Design/methodology/approach
This exploratory study adopted a qualitative research methodology, specifically a multiple-case study, by performing semi-structured interviews with sporting goods store managers.
Findings
Sporting goods retailers use various in-store technologies to create a phygital customer shopping experience, including devices, mobile apps, wireless communication technologies, in-store activations, support devices, intelligent stations, and sensors. To improve the phygital customer journey and the phygital shopping experience, retailers meet customers' needs for utilitarian, hedonic, social, and playfulness experiences. Purely physical or digital strategies, as well as phygital strategies, are identified. This research also proposes a model of in-store phygital customer shopping experience design for sporting goods retailers.
Practical implications
Sporting goods managers can invest in multiple technologies by designing a physical environment according to the customers' needs for utilitarian, hedonic, social, and playful experiences. In addition, they can improve the phygital customer shopping experience with specific push strategies that increase customer engagement and, in turn, brand and store loyalty.
Originality/value
This study highlights how the phygital customer experiential journey can be created through new technologies and improved with specific reference to the sporting goods stores.

Abstract
Outsourcing of services has been receiving increasing attention in management literature and praxis. It is considered that greatest attention has been given to the enhanced efficiency of transaction costs through outsourcing. In contrast, this paper explores what is being outsourced, the drivers for outsourcing and the IT commodification influence on outsourcing. Particular attention is given to examining supplier‐client relationships and the consequently new emerging outsourcing arrangements and organisational forms. The benefits and costs of outsourcing and client satisfaction are discussed as well as outsourcing in the public sector. The paper highlights that a fundamental paradigm shift is underway from strictly provider/supplier relationships to an emerging array of partner based relationships comparable with the Japanese kieretsu relationship model. The paper concludes by identifying areas for further research for increasing understanding of the paradigm shift that is highlighted.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of sustainable tourism research published in Scopus-indexed journals covering the period from 1997 to 2021. Articles published during these 25 years were subjected to science mapping and performance analysis to propose potential areas for future research.
Design/methodology/approach
A bibliometric analysis using performance analysis and science mapping was conducted on 1,754 research papers retrieved from the Scopus database using the keyword “sustainable tourism.” Biblioshiny and VOSviewer are commonly used bibliometric tools. Science mapping techniques use coauthorship, keyword co-occurrence and co-citation analyses.
Findings
This study revealed the sustainable tourism publications’ spatial and temporal patterns, indicating a yearly growth rate of 19.9% during a 25-year period. The study identified Stefan Gossling as the most influential author, the “Journal of Sustainable Tourism” as the leading journal and Australia as the most productive country in sustainable tourism literature. The study used co-citation analysis to identify five thematic clusters, namely, reconceptualization and criticism, the role of residents, eco-labeling and the role of stakeholders, community-based tourism and the shift toward establishing sustainability indicators and effective governance and policymaking. The coauthorship analysis identifies the most influential author in collaborative efforts, and the most common pattern of collaboration is between researchers from different institutions in the same country, such as China and the Philippines, followed by collaborations between authors from other countries. The keyword co-occurrence analysis uncovered keywords that aligned with theme clusters generated from the co-citation analysis.
Originality/value
This study comprehensively uncovers five thematic clusters that have never been extracted so far in the literature. Also, it attempts to fill the gaps related to sustainable tourism by suggesting directions for future research.

Abstract
Since June 2000, dot.com companies in Hong Kong have followed the same pattern of downsizing as their counterparts in the West. Explores the downsizing phenomenon in the Internet industry, the employees’ views on the experience of downsizing in the industry, their job orientation and work expectations. Questionnaires were distributed with the endorsement of an employees’ association to its members. Three sets of interviews were conducted to obtain background information on the labour department, the Internet industry and association, and the respondents’ views. The major findings include that the employees of this industry have high educational levels, are young in age and worked long hours. Those who have experienced downsizing and closure tend to feel the injustice of the practice regardless of the compensation provided. For job orientation and work expectations, the majority of respondents tend to feel that the industry offers good prospects and promotion opportunities, but, on the other hand, they tend not to be satisfied with their present working environment. Female respondents tend to look for intrinsic rewards and they are more likely to be the target for downsizing.

Abstract
Examines varied empirical studies on downsizing which have revealed that, as a result of its aftermath, high percentages of companies have judged these efforts as unsuccessful. Corporate restructuring encompasses multiple forms of change, which are classified into three distinct categories: portfolio, financial and organizational. An analysis of the Freeman and Cameron theoretical framework on downsizing implementation processes is examined in terms of where the process occurs, during periods either of convergence and/or of reorientation, and the results associated with each approach. A case study of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment revealed that restructuring did not provide visible improvements in efficiency, economy and responsiveness. Cultural impact of this intervention revealed negative intergroup reactions, i.e. denial, dissatisfaction. An analysis of Richard Johnson’s model of the antecedents, processes and outcomes of downsizing revealed the impact upon strategy, productivity, human resources and finance. Interrelationships suggested diminished performances of firms which downsized without a lucid blueprint, adversely impacting upon these businesses. Finally, 30 recommendations are given for the human resource executive for effective downsizing, focusing upon: approach, involvement, leadership, communication, preparation, support, cost cutting, measurement, and implementation.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to investigate how the amount of material used and printing parameters affect the mechanical and water sorption properties of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene printed parts.
Design/methodology/approach
The specimens were printed using different printing parameters such as shell number, infill pattern and printing orientation, while accounting for the amount of material used. The mechanical properties of the printed parts were then evaluated using tensile, compression and flexural tests, along with sorption tests.
Findings
The results revealed that the maximum tensile stress of 31.41 MPa was obtained when using 100% infill and a horizontal printing orientation. Similarly, the maximum flexural strength and compression of 40.5 MPa and 100.7 MPa, respectively, were obtained with 100% infill. The printing orientation was found to have a greater impact on mechanical behavior compared to the number of shells or infill patterns. Specifically, the horizontal printing orientation resulted in specimens with at least 25% greater strength compared to the vertical printing orientation. Furthermore, the relationship between the amount of material used and strength was evident in the tensile and flexural tests, which showed a close correlation between the two.
Originality/value
This study’s originality lies in its focus on optimizing the amount of material used to achieve the best strength-to-mass ratio and negligible water infiltration. The findings showed that specimens with two shells and a 60% infill density exhibited the best strength-to-mass ratio.

Abstract
Reports the emergency stopgap measures undertaken by industry giant Tele Link to counteract downward market trends and the ensuing problems caused by its Efficiency Program not being managed effectively, resulting in lingering and negative impact on surviving employees’ behaviors and attitudes, demonstrated by decreases in productivity, motivation, emotional health, job satisfaction, and confidence in management, as well as increases in absenteeism. Also reports Tele Link was unprepared to handle the inevitable pre‐announcement rumor mill and was forced to present cutbacks prematurely, lengthening the period of time from announcement to implementation and fueling anxiety at the time. While Tele Link’s handling of the Efficiency Program is well rated it did concentrate, almost entirely, on the “during” phase, with no formal plans to help survivors mourn or adjust to new circumstances. Emphasizes that the power of informal communication, in this case the “rumor mill”, should not be underestimated, and management should not overestimate their own ability to control it.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to develop a framework of strategies to achieving customer order flexibility in and related to the order-to-delivery (OTD) process. The purpose is also to investigate how companies prioritize various strategies to achieve customer order flexibility.
Design/methodology/approach
Based on a literature review, pre-tests and conceptual reasoning, a conceptual framework of strategies related to the order-to-delivery process was developed. The strategies were linked to the order quantity and delivery lead-time flexibility dimensions. This structure resulted in six groups covering enabling as well as remedial strategies. An empirical interview study of ten customer–supplier relationships was conducted.
Findings
The interviews identified additional strategies, thereby expanding the framework. The enabling strategies with the highest median values were “have continuous contact with the customer's purchaser” and “use safety stock of raw materials/semi-finished products”. The remedial strategy with the highest median was “re-plan/re-prioritize the order backlog”. In the delivery sub-process, it was more common to apply remedial strategies for delivery lead-time than for order quantities.
Research limitations/implications
The developed framework is a contribution to the literature on operational flexibility in and related to the OTD process. It complements existing knowledge by taking a supplier perspective.
Practical implications
Suppliers can use the framework as a tool to understand and systematically achieve better customer order flexibility in and related to the OTD process. Customers can use the framework as a checklist for supplier evaluation and supplier development.
Originality/value
Few identified studies include empirical data on customer order flexibility.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to synthesize a series of new anticorrosive pigments using a new technique called “core-shell”. This technique is based on depositing thin surface layer of expensive, efficient anticorrosive pigment on a cheap extender. This extender forms the bulk of the new pigments. The new pigments were constructed on cores of either waste silica fume or kaolin comprising 80-85 per cent of their chemical structure, and the ferrite shell was about of 20-15 per cent. Electrochemical studies were undertaken on two series of pigments for comparison between ferrites/silica fume and ferrites/kaolin pigment to show their performance, as the shells are different.
Design/methodology/approach
The different ferrites/silica fume and ferrites/kaolin pigments were characterized using different analytical and spectrophotometric techniques, such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Immersion test and electrochemical impedance measurements were done in 3.5 per cent NaCl.
Findings
The tests revealed that paint films containing Sr ferrite/silica and Ca ferrite/kaolin were the most effective in corrosion prevention.
Practical implications
Silica fumes have a large array of uses. These pigments can be applied in various industries such as painting, wooding coating, anti-corruption coating, powder coating, architectural paint and waterproof paints. Treated kaolin can be applied in many industries besides pigment manufacture and paint formulations; it can be applied as a reinforcing filler in rubber, plastics and ceramic composites.
Originality/value
The new pigments are considered ecofriendly materials, because using them converts a waste product and a natural ore to useful marketable product, leading to reducing cost and saving the environment at the same time.

Abstract
Purpose
Present study aims to extend the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) to simulate radiation in geometries with curved boundaries, as the first step to simulate radiation in complex porous media. In recent years, researchers have increasingly explored the use of porous media to improve the heat transfer processes. The lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) is one of the most effective techniques for simulating heat transfer in such media. However, the application of the LBM to study radiation in complex geometries that contain curved boundaries, as found in many porous media, has been limited.
Design/methodology/approach
The numerical evaluation of the effect of the radiation-conduction parameter and extinction coefficient on temperature and incident radiation distributions demonstrates that the proposed LBM algorithm provides highly accurate results across all cases, compared to those found in the literature or those obtained using the finite volume method (FVM) with the discrete ordinates method (DOM) for radiative information.
Findings
For the case with a conduction-radiation parameter equal to 0.01, the maximum relative error is 1.9% in predicting temperature along vertical central line. The accuracy improves with an increase in the conduction-radiation parameter. Furthermore, the comparison between computational performances of two approaches reveals that the LBM-LBM approach performs significantly faster than the FVM-DOM solver.
Originality/value
The difficulty of radiative modeling in combined problems involving irregular boundaries has led to alternative approaches that generally increase the computational expense to obtain necessary radiative details. To address the limitations of existing methods, this study presents a new approach involving a coupled lattice Boltzmann and first-order blocked-off technique to efficiently model conductive-radiative heat transfer in complex geometries with participating media. This algorithm has been developed using the parallel lattice Boltzmann solver.
