Abstract

The digital euro is not a monolithic project. On the contrary, the application fields are broad, and possible solutions are diverse. This chapter provides an overview of use cases, application domains, and infrastructures for the digital euro that differ significantly. A comparison with solutions for the digital dollar and the digital yuan leads to the conclusion that, in the most extreme case, the euro could become a regional currency for Europe. The main reason for this argument is the design and prioritization of current approaches within Europe as well as the European Central Bank’s digital euro project, and that stablecoin approaches seem to be neglected as solutions for the digital euro.

Abstract

Purpose: Thanks to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the digital economy, digital banking has become an attractive business trend. Moreover, the spreading of the Covid-19 virus worldwide over the past two years has boosted the digitalisation of banking services. The development of digital banking is now becoming an uncontroversial issue that will attract the concern of scholars, bank managers, and policy-makers.

Methodology: As an emerging country with a young population having significant digital appliance joy, Vietnam will be a perfect case study to research the development of digital banking. Besides, digital banks, as well as the appliances of artificial intelligence (AI) in the banking sector, have appeared in Vietnam’s banking system at several different levels.

Findings: Moreover, most commercial banks in Vietnam are now in the race to complete their digital services to provide innovative digital banking services that add more value to their clients. Hence, the chapter will describe the overall picture of Vietnam’s current digital banking market.

Implications: Based on the crucial features of the operations of several digital banks and the appliances of AI in the digital banking sector in Vietnam during the chosen period, the author would like to give information on the potential of the Vietnamese digital banking market and suggest the key policies which the Vietnamese government should consider to support the digital transformation of the banking sector in Vietnam.

Abstract

Advances in information technology have enabled consumers to connect and communicate as they never have before. This chapter conceptualizes information and the digital machines that enable contemporary connection and communication as being part of a “Moveable Feast.” A brief historical review tracing the impact and evolution of information technology on consumers’ lives and the marketplace is first provided. Culminating the historical review is a metaphorical description of the current period as a “Moveable Feast” of information, whereby consumers and digital machines interact to create and share information “dishes” with other consumers worldwide. With this guiding metaphor in place, current marketing-relevant information phenomena are described within a framework of three important digital dyads proposed to exist between humans and machines. Deep discussion of machine–machine, human–machine, and human–human dyads points to the importance of information as a resource that consumers create and exchange in the contemporary marketplace. This chapter concludes by encouraging marketers and marketing researchers to consider the impact and importance of digital information and information technology on consumers’ ability to connect and communicate with digital machines and with one another.
