Abstract
PHOTOGRAPHIC details of various aircraft and missiles recently released in conjunction with the Soviet air show at Tushino Airport on July 9, 1961, has provided a basis for the start of an evaluation of Soviet air‐to‐air rocket weapons. These pictorial data, coupled with Russian textbooks, as well as evidence of Soviet interest in the guided‐missile work of the Western Powers, indicated by the material that has been translated from English into Russian,1 has led to this brief evaluation of their work in this field.

Abstract
THIS paper is not intended to provide any startling revelations of Soviet technology but is a detailed survey and analysis of contemporary developments in Soviet turbine powered transport aircraft. The major portion of the work is based on Soviet sources of information in an attempt to assure authenticity and accuracy.

Abstract
An Assessment of the Basic Design and Performance Based on a Heavily Retouched Photograph of a Large Ballistic Missile which was published in the December 4, 1962, edition of Kransnaya Zvezda (‘Red Star’). FOR the first time in any open literature source, the December 4, 1962, edition of Kransnaya Zvezda or Red Star, the daily newspaper of the Soviet Department of Defence, carried a very heavily retouched photograph of a very large ballistic missile with a caption describing the missile as their strategic rocket ready for launch. This photograph of a large rocket had obviously been heavily retouched so that little of its detail construction was identifiable. The rocket itself appears to have been cut out and pasted on to a photograph of a winter scene (fig. 1).

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to improve the understanding of the relationship between organizational slack and firm performance for high technology initial public offerings (IPOs).
Design/methodology/approach
Using cluster analysis the paper investigates configurations of slack and their associated performance implications.
Findings
The findings indicate the existence of distinct configurations of slack resources and associated performance differences among the configurations. Implications of the findings for managerial practice and future research are discussed.
Originality/value
The purpose of this study is to extend slack measurement research by examining the slack and performance relationship in high‐technology IPOs from a configurational perspective.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the non-academic impact in supply chain management (SCM) research through the application of three distinctive approaches to phenomenological methodology in different contexts.
Design/methodology/approach
Evidence-based examples from three case studies using interpretivist, social constructivist and critical realist methodologies are presented. They reflect non-positivist approaches commonly used in phenomenological methodology and adopted in SCM investigative research.
Findings
Different types of non-academic reach and significance from each research methodology are discussed to illustrate the non-academic impact benefits from each case. The three distinctive phenomenological approaches have been shown to contribute to innovative research methodology development on their own philosophical merit and produced novel contributions to SCM research in particular.
Research limitations/implications
The non-academic impact examples have been shown to have wider influence and implication to business, the economy and society at large.
Originality/value
The paper highlights the relevance of phenomenological research methodology for SCM. It also contributes to the development of the SCM subject area and is hoped to encourage further reporting of non-academic impact of supply chain research.

Abstract
It is contended that the theory and practice of qualitative research is an integral part of a comprehensive marketing course. Both postgraduate and undergraduate students of marketing may be expected to be familiar with, and have experience of, qualitative techniques. Focus groups are arguably the most frequently employed qualitative technique, and as such are used as a starting point for the study of qualitative research. Their accepted advantages of speed, flexibility and economy, together with the rich data generated, make qualitative methods eminently suitable for student research, with its attendant limitations on time and money. A detailed practical guide to the procedures for planning, conducting and analysing focus groups is presented.
