Public and private sector entities also face a constant stream of cyberattacks through varied methods by actors with myriad motivations. These threats are not expected to diminish in the near future. As a result, homeland security and national security professionals at all levels of government must understand the unique motivations and capabilities of malicious cyber actors in order to better protect against and respond to cyberattacks. Abstract

It is difficult to argue against the fact that research has focussed on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotisation over the past few decades. Additionally, during the past several years, it has taken off and is now extensively used in numerous businesses across various industries. Most of the time, AI has been associated with some industrial sector process automation. Still, recently, the authors have noticed more positive technology uses, especially in the financial services industry. Due to several factors, the financial sector needs to adopt AI and recognise its potential. The industry has historically been concerned about unpredictability, legislation, stronger cybersecurity, technological limitations and disruption of established lucrative operations.

Never before has there been more discussion about AI due to the advantages it provides to businesses that are providing financial services. That may explain why this change is referred to as the fourth industrial revolution. Both positively and negatively, it is quite disruptive. The effectiveness, accuracy and cost-effectiveness of solutions greatly increase. However, immense power also entails great responsibility.

Precautions and security are more crucial than ever for businesses since the financial sector is changing significantly and quickly. The various benefits and drawbacks of this technology are yet unknown to humans. Although AI was first shown to us in the 1950s, it has recently gained new prominence as processing power, and the available quantity of data has increased dramatically.

Abstract

We repeat the mistakes of history because of the neglect of history, the imperfections of memory, and the complexity of social situations. I begin with a discussion of the first two and then turn to the third. After discussing the meaning and significance of complexity, I discuss the causal ambiguity surrounding economic policies and what this implies for the burden of proof in policy espousal and design. I consider the role of social institutions, their function and origins, and how they are able to facilitate human action in an economic environment of accelerating change. Institutions like markets, monetary systems, systems of common law, languages are all networks. So are groups of believers in the efficacy of certain kinds of economic policy. I consider the role of networks in general and in regard to economic cycles in particular. In the concluding section, I suggest that the implications of complexity for the occurrence of cycles, and the adoption of discretionary policies to deal with them, are likely not only to exacerbate the effects of the cycles, but also, more fundamentally, to subvert the fundamental institutional structure of our economy, what we may think of as our embedded constitutions, to the great long-term detriment of our economic health.

Abstract

Purpose: This chapter aims to enlighten the stakeholders on the role and contribution and the issues and challenges of large-scale industries in the wake of the globally unified economies.

Need for the study: Large-scale industries are one of the pillars of any nation and can exercise an immense impact on the numerous facets of the economy of any country. Their role and contribution can benefit all the stakeholders, especially in today’s integrated and interdependent world economies. Hence, there is an absolute need to highlight the issues and challenges and suggest measures to overcome them to promote a resilient global economy.

Methodology: The study gathered data from secondary sources like textbooks, articles, and the internet.

Findings: The findings of the study state that large-scale industries are enormous contributors to employment creation, development of the economy, growth of revenue, research and development (R&D) and innovation, export promotion, and infrastructure. The significant challenges include regulatory compliance, workforce management, economic volatility, political instability, supply chain management, environmental compliance, and technology and infrastructure.

Protectionism, deregulation, public–private partnership, privatisation, and environmental regulation are significant government decisions that affect large-scale industries. The study identifies tax incentives, easy access to financing, and domestic and international trade policies to safeguard large-scale industries’ interests.

Practical implications: Large-scale industries contribute towards the growth of global economic resilience in terms of employment generation, technological advancements, and innovation, fostering international trade in today’s interconnected world.
