Many companies are finding that to compete in their industries, continuous training of their employees is necessary. Although there are barriers to be overcome computer aided training can offer effective solutions as part of a company′s overall training programme. Telecommunications will be used to provide an exchange of information in an educational context; artificial intelligence technology will make interactive training sessions more realistic; computers will be used to train employees in interpersonal skills; performance support systems will bring training to the exact place and time that an employee needs instruction.

As most existing computer‐aided design systems do not provide part feature information which is essential for process planning, automatic part feature recognition systems serve as an important link between Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP). Attempts to provide a structural framework for understanding various issues related to part feature recognition. Reviews previous work in the field of part feature recognition and classifies known feature recognition systems for the sake of updating information and future research. Briefly introduces about 12 systems. Studies 31 systems and lists them in the Appendix based on 60 references. Comments on future research directions.

Follows a presentation at a symposium in 1993 where the authors presented an experimental investigation on a fluttering membrane for use in a wind‐tunnel. Analyses the fluttering of an object by a theoretical method. Compares the experimental results with those of the theoretical and discusses their effectiveness. States that the present analysis is effective for approximate investigations.
