Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of the paper is to explore the relationship between workplace empowerment and employee commitment with quality of work life (QWL) as a mediator in the case of private healthcare employees in India.
Design/methodology/approach
The study used a structured questionnaire to collect primary data from 279 employees of private healthcare units in India. AMOS 20 was used to analyse the data.
Findings
Results of data analysis confirm that the proposed hypotheses of the study were significant. Structural equation modelling revealed a best-fit model that demonstrated QWL to be a significant partial mediator between workplace empowerment and employee commitment.
Practical implications
This work provides a pragmatic view about the action mechanism through which workplace empowerment can aid in generating commitment among healthcare employees. The paper also offers insights for healthcare managers, administrators and practitioners.
Originality/value
The research is an attempt to integrate the employees as the core long-term assets of the healthcare system. The study establishes the triadic and symbiotic alliance of workplace empowerment, QWL and employee commitment in the novel context of healthcare.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of HR interventions (rewards and incentives, training, organisational learning) on employee creativity to enhance organisational innovation in connection to the Indian automobile industries.
Design/methodology/approach
The study examined 258 valid responses of middle-level and top-level executives working in four wheeler automobile manufacturing units, and research and development units constituted in Southern India. The hypothesised model’s validity was tested through structural equation modelling (SEM). The confirmatory factor analysis established the reliability and validity of the dimensions and the related hypotheses were tested by using SEM.
Findings
The findings illustrate that HR interventions have an impact on employee creativity which helps in enhancing organisational innovation.
Originality/value
The research is unique in its attempt to measure the creativity of an individual for organisational innovation by combining the existing scales of employee creativity. The paper contributes to the HR literature by incorporating HR interventions and employee creativity into a research model that enhances organisational innovation.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to explore the significant predictors that have an impact on cultivating an environment of positive employer–employee relations in power sector organization.
Design/methodology/approach
Primary data were gathered by administering a structured questionnaire among 154 respondents (executives and non-executives) of a state-owned power sector of India. Exploratory factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were employed for statistical analysis of the data using SPSS (version 20).
Findings
The analysis used a total of 17 independent variables, and only three factors were extracted, namely organizational justice (OJ), employee empowerment (EE) and conflict management (CM), and established as the significant predictors of employee relation (ER). The proposed hypotheses were found to be statistically significant.
Practical implications
This scholarly endeavor provides plausible insights regarding the predictors vital for nurturing harmonious ER in power sector undertakings. It becomes highly imperative for both managers and academicians for developing strategies to cultivate a facilitative work environment to generate contented and competent workforce that can confront the challenging business world.
Originality/value
This work is a distinct manifestation of exhibiting quality relationships among the organizational entities by integrating the association of OJ, EE and CM for flourishing cordial employee relations (ERs) in the new perspective of power sector.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to evaluate the link between climate/weather change and farmer migration in Bihar, India. The influence of cognitive conditions and climate-related stress on farmer migration decisions and the socioeconomic characteristics of migrating and non-migrating farm households are analysed. The focus is the role of migration in access to climate and agricultural extension services and the contribution of migration to enhanced farmer coping capacity.
Design/methodology/approach
A primary survey was conducted of farm households in seven districts of Bihar, India. Farmer perceptions of climate change were analysed using the mental map technique. The role of socioeconomic characteristics in farm household migration was evaluated using binary logistic regression, and the influence of migration on access to climate and agricultural extension services and the adaptive capacity of migrating households was investigated using descriptive statistics.
Findings
Climate-induced livelihood risk factors are one of the major drivers of farmer’s migration. The farmers’ perception on climate change influences migration along with the socioeconomic characteristics. There is a significant difference between migrating and non-migrating farm households in the utilization of instructions, knowledge and technology based climate and agriculture extension services. Benefits from receipt of remittance, knowledge and social networks from the host region enhances migrating households’ adaptive capacity.
Originality/value
This study provides micro-evidence of the contribution of migration to farmer adaptive capacity and access to climate and agricultural extension services, which will benefit analyses of climate-induced migration in other developing countries with higher agricultural dependence. In addition, valuable insights are delivered on policy requirements to reduce farmer vulnerability to climate change.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to examine how aid for trade policy and regulations (AfTPR) contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 8.1 (sustain per capita economic growth) and whether the effectiveness of AfTPR is conditional to the stable political environment.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper uses a widely accepted endogenous growth framework and applies panel data fixed effects and two-step difference and system generalized method of moments estimation strategies on panel data of 50 developing countries over 2005–2017.
Findings
The findings of the study confirm that aid to trade policy promotes sustainable economic growth in developing countries, but this category of development assistance is only effective and significant for low and lower middle-income (LLMI) economies. The positive and significant effect of AfTPR in upper middle-income countries is conditional to their level of political stability. Under a stable political situation, the positive effect of AfTPR on sustainable growth remains almost same for the LLMI countries, whereas for the upper middle-income countries this growth effect reached almost double.
Research limitations/implications
International trade is considered as a driver for inclusive and sustainable economic growth, whereas aid for trade is acknowledged for its prospective contribution toward achieving these goals. The findings have dominant policy implications for the international development organizations and donors, which recommend that it is more desirable to transmit aid toward developing and implementing trade policy and regulations as per capita economic growth improves in the aid recipient countries.
Originality/value
According to the authors’ knowledge, no prior study empirically analyzes the effect of AfTPRs on SDG target 8.1.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to analyze various properties of anatase titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles. Further, it proposes to implement Linear Combinations of Atomic Orbitals (LCAO) basis set under the framework of density functional theory and outline how LCAO is able to provide improved results in terms of various mechanical properties rather than plane wave and other theoretical results.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper provides an exploratory study on anatase TiO2 by implementing OLCAO–DFT–LDA–LBFGS–EOS–PZ algorithms to find out various ground-level properties. The data so obtained are complemented by various analysis using mathematical expressions, description of internal processes occurred and comparison to others’ analytical results.
Findings
The paper provides some empirical insights on how mechanical properties of anatase TiO2 improved by implementing LCAO methodology. From the analysis of electronic properties, it is seen that the anatase TiO2 supports the inter band indirect transition from O-2p in valence region to Ti-3d in the conduction region.
Research limitations/implications
Most of the electronic properties are underestimated because a single exchange-correlation potential is not continuous across the gap. This gap can be enhanced by implementing Green’s function in place of DFT and the other way is to implement self-interaction correction.
Practical implications
The use of anatase TiO2 is primarily used for catalytic applications. This is also used to enhance the quality of paper in the paper industry. Additionally, this is used as a prime ingredient in cosmetic industry.
Originality/value
This paper fulfills an identified need to study how LCAO, another basis set, plays an important role in improving material properties.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to provide an in-depth awareness into the research on customised training programme for the indigenous population in India. The central aim is to conduct a systematic review on the available studies to explore its crucial themes interweaving with skill development.
Design/methodology/approach
This study uses systematic review method, for which the author uses Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, SPIDER tool and Mendeley to identify relevant articles from 2011 to 2022.
Findings
Results show that the customised training programme is useful for the first-generation population to upgrade their skills. It aids in improving scalability, supports job creation and facilitates in mitigating low level of training exposure by meeting the local needs. However, poor approachability on customised training, its oversimplification and lack of research dents the critical insights and prospects.
Originality/value
The novelty of this paper lies on retrieving the essential indicators of customised training from previous studies by systematic review tools. It can aid academicians, educators, local administration and policymakers to understand its benefits for indigenous population to fill the policy gaps.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to examine the moderating role of organizational learning culture (OLC) on the relationship between human resource development (HRD) practices and employee competencies (EC) in enhancing organizational effectiveness (OE).
Design/methodology/approach
An integrated research model of HRD practices, EC, OE and OLC was developed. The validity of the model is tested by applying structural equation modelling (SEM) approach to data collected from 506 employees working in 4 medium-size cement manufacturing companies.
Findings
The results confirmed that training and career development had a significant impact on EC, the moderating effect of OLC on the relationship between HRD practices and EC was found significant and there is a significant and positive relationship between EC and employee perceived OE.
Originality/value
This paper contributes to the HRD literature, integrating HRD practices, OLC and EC. The research is unique as it has applied moderated SEM to test hypotheses of the study.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to analyze the contribution of the diffusion of innovation framework to eco-sustainability. It examines the interplay of organizational environment, innovation and innovation adopters’ characteristics on the diffusion of environmental sustainability.
Design/methodology/approach
The data for empirical validation were obtained through an offline survey from the hospitals. The proposed conceptual framework was tested using the hierarchical regression analysis technique.
Findings
The results show that diffusion of innovation characteristics and organizational environment significantly influence the environmental sustainability index. The adopters’ characteristics do not have any direct effect on the environmental sustainability but this effect becomes significant in the presence of a favorable organizational environment.
Practical implications
Focusing on innovations that offer an advantage over the existing processes, are compatible with the existing system, are uncomplicated and simple to implement and can be experimented before full implementation may greatly accelerate the adoption of eco-innovations in hospitals. Fostering an organizational environment where employees are encouraged and rewarded for contributing to sustainable innovations can play a substantial role in the implementation of environmental sustainability innovations.
Originality/value
This study is an original contribution as it advances the limited understanding of the predictors and moderators of environmental sustainability in hospitals.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to provide a systematic literature review on blockchain technology in education to offer a detailed understanding of the present scenario in terms of benefits, barriers, present blockchain technology application and future areas where blockchain technology can be implemented in the other fields of education.
Design/methodology/approach
A bibliometric analysis is conducted on for data in the publications, journals, authors and citations were collected, and examined by applying bibliometric measures. The data was collected from SCOPUS database on the topic “Blockchain Technology in Education”. The following research questions guided this systematic literature review (SLR: How blockchain technology has been defined in educational settings? How were the technology examined (i.e. the methodology)? What were the results of using this technology in an education system?
Findings
The study identifies the benefits, barriers and present application of blockchain technology in education. The analysis shows that blockchain technology in education is still a young discipline, but has a lot of potential to benefits the educational sector at large.
Practical implications
This research provides a groundwork for education institutions, the policymakers and researchers to explore other areas where blockchain technology can be implemented, though this research has also suggested some prospective uses of blockchain technology in different functions of an education system, more application can be brought into the education system to exploit the potential of blockchain technology.
Originality/value
The paper discusses the application of blockchain technology in education with the help of bibliometric analysis. This is one of the first known studies to review the blockchain technology by identifying its benefits, barriers, present blockchain technology application. Based on the analysis, future application areas are also identified.
