Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to develop a new time-dependent KdV6 equation. The authors derive multiple soliton solutions and multiple complex soliton solutions for a time-dependent equation.

Design/methodology/approach

The newly developed time-dependent model has been handled by using the Hirota’s direct method. The authors also use the complex Hirota’s criteria for deriving multiple complex soliton solutions.

Findings

The examined extension of the KdV6 model exhibits complete integrability for any analytic time-dependent coefficient.

Research limitations/implications

The paper presents a new efficient algorithm for constructing extended models which give a variety of multiple real and complex soliton solutions.

Practical implications

The paper introduced a new time-dependent KdV6 equation, where integrability is emphasized for any analytic time-dependent function.

Social implications

The findings are new and promising. Multiple real and multiple complex soliton solutions were formally derived.

Originality/value

This is an entirely new work where a new time-dependent KdV6 equation is established. This is the first time that the KdV6 equation is examined as a time-dependent equation. Moreover, the complete integrability of this newly developed equation is emphasized via using Painlevé test.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to find new non-traveling wave solutions and study its localized structure of Caudrey-Dodd-Gibbon-Kotera-Sawada (CDGKS) equation.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors apply the Lie group method twice and combine with the Exp-function method and Riccati equation mapping method to the (2+1)-dimensional CDGKS equation.

Findings

The authors have obtained some new non-traveling wave solutions with two arbitrary functions of time variable.

Research limitations/implications

As non-linear evolution equations is characterized by rich dynamical behavior, the authors just found some of them and others still to be found.

Originality/value

These results may help the authors to investigate some new localized structure and the interaction of waves in high-dimensional models. The new non-traveling wave solutions with two arbitrary functions of time variable are obtained for CDGKS equation using Lie group approach twice and combining with the Exp-function method and Riccati equation mapping method by the aid of Maple.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to study the Gramian solutions and solitonic interactions of a (2 + 1)-dimensional Broer–Kaup–Kupershmidt (BKK) system, which models the nonlinear and dispersive long gravity waves traveling along two horizontal directions in the shallow water of uniform depth.

Design/methodology/approach

Pfaffian technique is used to construct the Gramian solutions of the (2 + 1)-dimensional BKK system. Asymptotic analysis is applied on the two-soliton solutions to study the interaction properties.

Findings

N-soliton solutions in the Gramian with a real function ζ(y) of the (2 + 1)-dimensional BKK system are constructed and proved, where N is a positive integer and y is the scaled space variable. Conditions of elastic and inelastic interactions between the two solitons are revealed asymptotically. For the three and four solitons, elastic, inelastic interactions and soliton resonances are discussed graphically. Effect of the wave numbers, initial phases and ζ(y) on the solitonic interactions is also studied.

Originality/value

Shallow water waves are studied for the applications in environmental engineering and hydraulic engineering. This paper studies the shallow water waves through the Gramian solutions of a (2 + 1)-dimensional BKK system and provides some phenomena that have not been studied.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to find out some new rational non-traveling wave solutions and to study localized structures for (2+1)-dimensional Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur (AKNS) equation.

Design/methodology/approach

Along with some special transformations, the Lie group method and the rational function method are applied to the (2+1)-dimensional AKNS equation.

Findings

Some new non-traveling wave solutions are obtained, including generalized rational solutions with two arbitrary functions of time variable.

Research limitations/implications

As a typical nonlinear evolution equation, some dynamical behaviors are also discussed.

Originality/value

With the help of the Lie group method, special transformations and the rational function method, new non-traveling wave solutions are derived for the AKNS equation by Maple software. These results are much useful for investigating some new localized structures and the interaction of waves in high-dimensional models, and enrich dynamical features of solutions for the higher dimensional systems.

Abstract

Purpose

The aim of this study is to offer a contemporary approach for getting optical soliton and traveling wave solutions for the Date–Jimbo–Kashiwara–Miwa equation.

Design/methodology/approach

The approach is based on a recently constructed ansätze strategy. This method is an alternative to the Painleve test analysis, producing results similarly, but in a more practical, straightforward manner.

Findings

The approach proved the existence of both singular and optical soliton solutions. The method and its application show how much better and simpler this new strategy is than current ones. The most significant benefit is that it may be used to solve a wide range of partial differential equations that are encountered in practical applications.

Originality/value

The approach has been developed recently, and this is the first time that this method is applied successfully to extract soliton solutions to the Date–Jimbo–Kashiwara–Miwa equation.

This paper aims to propose a new (3+1)-dimensional integrable Hirota bilinear equation characterized by five linear partial derivatives and three nonlinear partial derivatives.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to propose a new (3+1)-dimensional integrable Hirota bilinear equation characterized by five linear partial derivatives and three nonlinear partial derivatives.

Design/methodology/approach

The authors formally use the simplified Hirota's method and lump schemes for determining multiple soliton solutions and lump solutions, which are rationally localized in all directions in space.

Findings

The Painlevé analysis shows that the compatibility condition for integrability does not die away at the highest resonance level, but integrability characteristics is justified through the Lax sense.

Research limitations/implications

Multiple-soliton solutions are explored using the Hirota's bilinear method. The authors also furnish a class of lump solutions using distinct values of the parameters via the positive quadratic function method.

Practical implications

The authors also retrieve a bunch of other solutions of distinct structures such as solitonic, periodic solutions and ratio of trigonometric functions solutions.

Social implications

This work formally furnishes algorithms for extending integrable equations and for the determination of lump solutions.

Originality/value

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this paper introduces an original work with newly developed Lax-integrable equation and shows new useful findings.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to construct analytical solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equations, and the existence of rogue waves and their localized structures are studied.

Design/methodology/approach

Function transformation and variable separation method are applied to the (2+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equations.

Findings

A series of analytical solutions including rogue wave solutions for the (2+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equations are constructed. Localized structures of rogue waves confirm the presence of large amplitude wave wall.

Research limitations/implications

The localized structures of rogue waves are displayed by analytical solutions and figures. The authors just find some of them and others still to be found.

Originality/value

These results may help to investigate the localized structures and the behavior of rogue waves for nonlinear evolution equations. Applying two different function transformations and variable separation functions to two different states of the equations, respectively, to construct the solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equations. Rogue wave solutions are enumerated and their figures are partly displayed.
