Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to investigate the adoption of waqf technology (Waqftech) using blockchain smart contracts for corporate waqf crowdfunding. Despite the growing interest in Waqftech, Malaysian enterprises have not fully embraced this emerging technology because of uncertainty regarding the benefits it offers to contributors. The research incorporates two theoretical frameworks: the electronic data interchange (EDI) model for firms’ technology adoption, and the triple bottom line theory (TBL) for corporate social responsibility.

Design/methodology/approach

A quantitative method using a cross-sectional survey design with a five-point Likert scale questionnaire was used. Data was collected from 210 decision-makers representing small and medium-sized enterprises and analyzed using partial least squares-structural equation modeling.

Findings

The findings from this research suggest that Malaysian enterprises are influenced by both corporate and social predictive benefits when using blockchain crowdfunding, but not by environmental benefits. The adoption of blockchain smart contracts does not correlate with predictive environmental benefits because of misconceptions about the disruptive technology’s impact on biological and digital environmental preservation.

Research limitations/implications

This research focuses on organizational behavior rather than individual users of waqf crowdfunding, and it is limited, primarily focusing within Malaysia and regions with similar waqf structures.

Practical implications

The Waqftech framework allows innovative mechanisms for executing corporate waqf investment returns to the intended beneficiaries through the smart contracts’ platform. In addition, this study supports relevant corporate social responsibility and creating shared value technology adoption theories, including EDI and TBL. Aside from this, the study provides empirical implications for waqf management using fintech platforms.

Originality/value

This groundbreaking study focuses on creating a Waqftech model for corporate waqf crowdfunding. The results of this study are important for the development of government policies that support the use of Waqftech in charitable fundraising. More research on biological and digital environmental perspectives is proposed to foster investors’ confidence in the visibility of digital tracking and lead to swift investments in future metaverse fundraising platforms.

Abstract

Purpose

This study developed a model for the mediation role of satisfaction on Jaiz bank products and services as an alternative way of improving customer’s subjective experiences of banking in Nigeria.

Design/methodology/approach

This paper adopted structural equation modelling’s confirmatory factory analysis with three-factor theory. Composite reliability, average variance extracted and discriminant validity were used to test the validity and reliability of data collected from a sample of 345 participants comprising senior, middle and lower-income earners. Also, descriptive statistics and independent analysis of variance were used for the analyses.

Findings

This paper provides insights into how Jaiz bank products and services will significantly improved the social lifestyle of Nigeria. Findings also indicates how context-specific Islamic bank products and services are embedded in the social ordering of communities in Nigeria and thus facilitate a more satisfactory and productive experience of customers.

Practical implications

Findings from the study provide insight and inform managers in making an informed decision on the products and services offered to a section of the popular, where strategic and analytical insights could strengthen different segments of the banking system in Nigeria. This study emphasises the significance of Islamic banking within the specific context of Nigeria, and also has an obvious theory and management implications.

Originality/value

It is hard to find a research paper discussing the mediation role of customer’s satisfaction on Jaiz bank products and services in improving the social lifestyle of Nigerians. This study provides a model that can be adopted in analysing products and services of Islamic banks based on customer’s satisfaction.

Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to assess the relationship between Islamic human resource practices and organizational performance.

Design/methodology/approach

The simple random technique on 300 Islamic organizations in Malaysia was used. In all, 120 completed questionnaires were returned, but only 114 were usable.

Findings

There are some positive and significant relationships between Islamic human resource practices and organizational performance. Basically, there is only one Islamic human resource practice, namely, training and development practice, that is positively and significantly related to organizational performance.

Research limitations/implications

This study is only limited to the Islamic organizations that are implementing Islamic human resource practices in total. Thus, the findings could only be generalized to this type of institution.

Practical implications

Thus, the Islamic organizations should emphasize on this practice to obtain higher organizational performance.

Social implications

Islamic human resource practices emphasize on the instillation of Islamic values in the practices that are universal in this world. Thus, through its implementation, the betterment of the society will be obtained in terms of psychology, moral and spiritual aspects. Cooperation, teamwork and harmony could also be steadfast not only in the organizations but also in the society.

Originality/value

There are few studies done on finding the relationship of Islamic human resource practices and organizational performance. Thus, this paper provides some empirical findings on this matter.
