Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this research is to examine the simultaneous effects of person‐organization (P‐O) and person‐job (P‐J) fit on job attitudes of five star hotels' managers in Turkey.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected from managers of five star hotels via a web‐based questionnaire. According to the data of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Turkey has 299 ministry licensed five star hotels. Of the 299 hotel managers, 158 (52.8 percent) have participated in the research. Correlation and regression analyses were used to test the predicted relationships.
Findings
The findings in this paper indicate that P‐O/P‐J fit positively related to organizational commitment, job motivation and job satisfaction, and according to correlation analyses results, negatively related to organizational stress level of hotel managers.
Research limitations/implications
The findings contribute to an improved understanding of the influence of P‐O and P‐J fit on job attitudes of hotel managers. Results may not generalize to other cultural or national contexts.
Originality/value
Most past research has assessed only one type of fit, without controlling for the other. This paper has contributed to the literature by investigating the combined effects of P‐O and P‐J fit on organizational commitment, job motivation, job satisfaction, and organizational stress of managers in a five star hotel context. Managerial and theoretical implications of research findings are also discussed. This paper contributes to the literature by being one of the first to examine the effects of two different types of person‐environment fit on job attitudes of Turkish hotels' managers.

Purpose
Reading habit plays a pivotal role in individuals' personal and academic growth, making it essential to encourage among campus users. University libraries serve as valuable platforms to promote reading by providing access to a diverse range of books and resources. Recommending books through personalized systems not only helps campus users discover new materials but also enhances their engagement and satisfaction with the library’s offerings, contributing to a holistic learning experience.
Design/methodology/approach
This study presents a web-based solution, the Web-Based Hybrid Intelligent Book Recommender System (W_HybridBook), as a solution that addresses challenges like cold start issues and limited scalability by factoring in user preferences and item similarities in generating book recommendations. The paper improves the traditional hybrid system using Genre-Oriented Profiles (GOPs) instead of original rating profiles of users when determining similarities between individuals. Consumption-based genre profiles (W_HybridBook-CBP) are created by assessing whether an item has received any ratings in the dataset, and vote-based genre profiles (W_HybridBook-VBP) are generated by considering the genre categories based on the magnitude of the user’s rating.
Findings
The comparative results indicated that users are quite satisfied with the recommendations generated by W\_HybridBook-VBP profiling, with an average rating of 4.0633 and a precision value of 0.7988. W\_HybridBook-VBP is also the fastest way with respect to the algorithm and recommendation run time.
Originality/value
The proposed W\_HybridBook has been then enhanced by adopting two user profiling strategies to boost the similarity calculation process in the recommendation generation phase. This system provides ranking-based recommendations by mainly integrating well-known collaborative and content-based filtering strategies. A dataset has been collected by considering the preferences of both users and academics at Izmir Bakircay University, which is one of the universities with the highest number of books per student. More importantly, this dataset has been released and become publicly available for future research in the recommender system field.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the reliability of the technique for estimating solar radiation in areas of rough topography and to detect the source of error and means for improvement.
Design/methodology/approach
Spatial data of the study area in the form of digital elevation model (DEM) coupled with geographic information system (GIS) were used to estimate the monthly solar radiation at locations with rough topography. The generated data were compared with measured data collected from all the selected locations using NASA data.
Findings
The results show that the variation in topographic parameters has a strong influence on the amount of solar radiation received by two close locations. However, the method performed well for solar radiation estimated in the areas of rough topography.
Research limitations/implications
The proposed approach overestimates the monthly solar radiation as compared with NASA data due to the impact of topographic parameters accounted for by the model which are not accounted by conventional methods of measurements. This approach can be improved by incorporating the reflected component of radiation in the model used to estimate the solar radiation implemented in the GIS.
Originality/value
The approach of using GIS with DEM to estimate solar radiation enables to identify the spatial variability in solar radiation between two closest locations due to the influence of topographic parameters, and this will assist in proper energy planning and decision making for optimal areas of solar photovoltaic installation.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to present a novel methodology for the evaluation of tribological properties of new nanocomposites with the A356 alloy matrix reinforced with aluminium oxide (Al2O3) nanoparticles.
Design/methodology/approach
Metal matrix nanocomposites (MMnCs) with varying amounts and sizes of Al2O3 particles were produced using a compocasting process. The influence of four factors, with different levels, on the wear rate, was analysed with the help of the design of experiments (DoE). A regression model was developed by using the response surface methodology (RSM) to establish a relationship between the observed factors and the wear rate. An artificial neural network was also applied to predict the value of wear rate. Adequacy of models was compared with experimental values. The extreme values of wear rate were determined with a genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization using the RSM model.
Findings
The combination of optimization methods determined the values of the factors which provide the highest wear resistance, namely, reinforcement content of 0.44 wt.% Al2O3, sliding speed of 1 m/s, normal load of 100 N and particle size of 100 nm. Used methods proved as effective tools for modelling and predicting of the behaviour of aluminium matrix nanocomposites.
Originality/value
The specific combinations of the optimization methods has not been applied up to now in the investigation of MMnCs. In addition, using of small content of ceramic nanoparticles as reinforcement has been poorly investigated. It can be stated that the presented approach for testing and prediction of the wear rate of nanocomposites is a very good base for their future research.

Abstract
Purpose
Construction accidents cause as much harm in Bangladeshi construction as it does globally. This study examines the primary causes of accidents and undertakes an impact assessment of neglecting safety protocols in construction projects in Bangladesh, funded publicly, privately and through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
Design/methodology/approach
Research was initiated with a comprehensive questionnaire from experts, sourcing data in Bangladesh's construction sector. Data analysis utilized Cronbach's alpha, relative important index and a fishbone diagram for causal visualization.
Findings
The study identified the three major causes of safety negligence as “Poor safety culture (RII = 0.857),” “Top management's inattention (RII = 0.825)” and “Lack of personal care (RII = 0.825).” Effects: “Rising project expenses (RII = 0.88),” “Increased medical costs (RII = 0.87)” and “Worker compensation expenses (RII = 0.87).” The study also used the Ishikawa-Fishbone and effect-flow diagrams to highlight accident causes/effects and compare their primary causes in PPP, public and private projects.
Originality/value
Research on construction safety in Bangladesh has mainly focused on identifying factors within specific construction sectors. Since the rules and regulations vary across these three sectors, different health and safety hazards may arise. As a result, this research fills a critical gap by providing a comparative study that examines the causes and impacts of different project types in the Bangladeshi construction industry. By pinpointing the result, this research aims to enhance the safety and well-being of the construction workers sector-wise, thereby contributing to the industry's sustainable growth.
