Canada nears the sun
Bureau van Dijk Electronic Publishing (BvD), Europe's leading publisher of electronic business information now includes Canadian companies in its Internet-based US company information database, ICARUS.
ICARUS now contains profiles of 1.4 million public and private U.S. companies and 140,000 Canadian companies. As with other BvD products users can identify companies that comply with their choice of search criteria, utilising either full Boolean logic or by opting for BvD's easy search format designed for end users. Lists and tables are simple to produce and can be downloaded into most packages. Search results can also be analysed in a simple matrix which plots the companies by the users' choice of criteria. The information is sourced from D&B and a link to a D&B Infolink search screen is included to enable access to further D&B company reports.
"The software on ICARUS is very flexible so it can be used for various different research projects – it is especially useful in a business development function," said Tony Pringle, general manager of BvD's London office, adding, "The addition of Canadian companies adds another dimension to ICARUS, making it more appealing to companies wishing to exploit opportunities in the North American market. ICARUS is ideal for helping gauge the feasibility of potential markets or campaigns."
