SMS SOS
Text messaging has been amazingly successful amongst the young in the UK – and elsewhere. It is a phenomenon that the supplying companies never expected to take off in the way it did. Now it is being used against some of its key users. A trial in the East Riding of Yorkshire sees schools sending SMS messages to the mobile phones of parents of kids who have not turned up for school. Technology often ends up being used in ways that were never predicted just a few months earlier.
